I dig your screenshot, ride  What some people don't understand about lynux and Xwindows specifically is its all about tinkering with your computer. If you try to do that with your windoze machine it it coughs and then barfs in your lap. The most interesting argument in the OS debate, I have ever seen, was Neal Stephenson's "In the Beginning There was Command Line". I am not a big Stephenson fan, but I could help but agree with his analogy that if operating systems were cars, Win would be a beat up american stationwagon jalopy, Mac would be a trendy euro sports car, Be would be a fully functional batmobile, and Lynux would be these tanks with great gas milage that hippy geeks were trying to give away on the side of the road for free. Why did I install a darwin build of Enlightenment on my Mac's distribution of Xwindows? Because I could  Edited for spelling |

hey to blow your cover ride but , yes you can run litestep on windows and yes the water app looks the same , i'll tell you something that windows does that linux cant ? do you know what that is? run almost all software , i like linux but i will not use it til one of two things happens , software companys support it , or they make it so it can run windows programs, and i mean all windows programs , not just office or note pad.  |

wait! please someone did not say mac.... mac in the year 2000 now thats funny , mac is fine if you have time , you know time ....like you start i.e. (which is windows ..der) and the you go to the store and make some food , then when the window is open you can then type in a http: then you can eat your meal and then do the dishes ..and when your done you page might be loaded , i have used top of the line, brand new macs with deul processing , on very nice cable conections , and well i have seen p.c. walk all over them at half the speed, oh and read some mac forums ...most people are running windows on there macs ...isnt that a slap in the face ... just go by pc. ... and now you can throw stuff at me .

Ewwww. Use internet exploder?! No thankyou! Do you also use outloo... I mean entourage? Atleast I can use my computer wothout worrying its going to catch the latest mydoom. As for software, its got a fair amount and what it doesn't have virtualPC can run. And since virtualPC is just that, virtual, if it catches mydoom or whatever virus someone cooked up this week for winblows, its not going to make the computer inoperable. Oh and I'll run my G5 against your desktop any day |

going to get me started again... I knew I should have never re-looked at this thread... litestep, used it and liked it, the only problem is it's *still* winblows... granted the UI is better, but it still sucks... Software... get out there and write some Anom... I seem to find every application I need to run... there are a few exceptions to this of course... but 99% of the time I dont need winblows. Games are coming to linux.... they will it is only a matter of time... linux is fast becoming the "cool" thing, just like the H2's... (only linux is not useless like an H2 ) Sure linux has bugs in the kernel.... so does winblows... there is one *key* difference tho... winblows claims to be a "finished" product (release code) which we all know it is not... now why should we have to *PAY* to be beta testers for MS? they should be paying us for this service we all provide to them... and least the linux community does not try to sell you "beta" code under the assumption that is a "clean and polished" product. |
