will do
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.
If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.
Technical Information:
*** STOP: 0x000000ED (0x86768E30, 0xC0000032, 0x00000000x 0x00000000)
first of all, none of the options work. i cant go into safe mode, debugging mode, or anything. I get the same blue screen, also it mentions "0xC0000032", some crap is damaged. i believe i might be able to get it running and all with those restoration disks, i get to type in whatever in a screen.
"Scandisk" doesnt do anything to help "chkdsk /r" doesnt do anything to help im wonder what.

Ok well i know this doesn't directly help you because you said you've tried the "chkdsk /r" command but this is where the error is specifically mentioned: support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=http://support.microsoft.com:80/support/kb/articles/q297/1/85.asp&NoWebContent=1It appears you have a "damaged file system" and their resolution is: 1.Start your computer with the Windows startup disks, or with the Windows CD-ROM if your computer can start from the CD-ROM drive. 2.When the Welcome to Setup screen appears, press R to select the repair option. 3.If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select the Windows installation that you want to access from the Recovery Console. 4.Type the administrator password when you are prompted to do so. NOTE: If no administrator password exists, press ENTER. 5.At the command prompt, on the drive where Windows is installed, type chkdsk /r, and then press ENTER. 6.At the command prompt, type exit, and then press ENTER to restart your computer. If this procedure does not work, repeat it and use the fixboot command in step 5 instead of the chkdsk /r command. ^^ Maybe you should try that last step though, you didn't mention using that command in your post^^

2 system restore CD's you say? those are usually from the system manufacturer (dell, hp, compaq, etc..) and will put your system back to the state it was in when you first brought it home.
they *might* do it, tho they would **ERASE** everything on your system (which you might end up having to do anyways)
to use them (MOST LIKELY) put in CD #1 and reboot... it *should* boot off the CD and ask you if you want to restore the system...
