Radog, I really like the RP aspect you threw in, how that accounts for them getting XP from watching. The only problem I have with your scenario is your actually getting more xp/kill just because someone of lower levels is with you. That reason alone, is why I don't party with low levels. There are plenty of ways ot get XP w/o dragging an XP booster along.

Thanks Phoenix, maybe I should try to explain it a little better. Ok like JoScMa (Mackenzie) said once you get a certain level, it's 6xp across the board. Same for me (Aviar Maximus). So the way I explain to the lower-level character how I am increasing my xp off of there presence is as a "unbiased, fresh, new" person giving me there point of view and critiquing my techniques. Like when companies bring in random people off the street and put them in focus groups and ask the common layman how to improve a product or service. At a former job I was added to a troubleshooting team to a division I knew nothing about because they wanted a fresh perspective from someone who really knew nothing about it, to get a fresh set of eyes looking at a problem. Same thing here. I tell the lower-level char to ask me questions about what I am doing, why I used that spell, etc. and that's how I rp getting xp from them.

Well, so there is RP to you getting more XP, I like the explaination. But isn't the XP issue a bug regarding 21+ level characters? 21+ chars. spawn 1st level spawns, and collect odd XPs. makzimia.proboards19.com/index.cgi?board=Support&action=display&thread=1072583263If it's a bug issue I guess I wouldn't mind a little since it's kinda a work-a-round. If that isn't it the case, then there is just a problem with not having high enough CR mobs. I think that if they were spawning the right level mobs you wouldn't get 6xp/kill and you wouldn't need to take a lower level person to gain xp. I'm in the same boat with my char (25th Wiz, Phoenix), so I know what a challenge getting XP at that level is. DM events help too, but only so much.

the problem is that no monster gives more than 6 XP for them... warped barbarians = 6 xp... it's not a bug but the way thye CR system works...

OK, not all monsters give 21+ chars 6xp. And if it not a case of a bug, then we just need higher CR monsters to kill...
Since there is a spawn bug, what about making epic areas that don't use the normal spawns based on CR and have static mobs with higer CRs? Add a 'Danger (not your normal stay out sign, we really mean danger)' sign to keep low levels out...

well mac is like mid 30s... and i think Aviar is as well... they do need higher CR beasts to fight... or have the XP payouts tweaked on the Uber-bests... Actually there should be some nasty stuff in the new areas that are showing up....

Pondering even deeper on what bioware has done with HotU, I THINK I have a solution, that I maintain I should NOT have to do... but anyway... basically those of you that visited Alvearia today will know.. I basically tacked 100CR rating on top of whatever HotU gave them each initially.. result is I believe a party of 2 mid 30 PCs were getting about 250XP per waste land giant... SO.. with that in mind.. I am going to tweak that addition on to ALL of my custom MOBS NPC's.
Tomorrow.

Well so much for my brilliant plan. Bioware have dropped it so bad and so smelly it reaks up the western hemisphere. By adding 100CR that made ie:Waste Land Giants 127 CR I think from memory. Now that is a level 40 that normally would be around a CR of 27 I think... I am going to try adding yet more CR this morning and test on my test server personally. There has to be some sort of break even point for the higher levels where it actually pays properly.... experimentation now is the only way... since theory has gone out the window. For the record it was actually a level 21 and a level 34 that got 250 XP.... I will try... but it seems this bug they have made is one nasty thing. Makz.

Hmm.....I feel for you Makz....this CR issue is a real head ache! As i have posted before...people power levelling using a 'badger' are everywhere....NOT because they are trying to get new characters up in levels quickly but because they are desperate for a decent reward for there own high level character. I try to maintain a nice balance of RP and craft and hack-and-slash, but as some ppl will have noticed that once you hit a certain level, if you want to go any further you HAVE to get a badger with you and work HARD to gain levels. I think by all the posts that Makz has placed on the forums, he knows about this..*chuckles* ...so lets all get behind him and give him some support and stop whining (alright, I will to! ;D) and lets just deal with it!

Well, I was getting 75xp off of the wasteland giants by myself (25th). I think that was Friday night, so if it's been updated since then, please ignore.
BTW, I don't think anyone's whining here, maybe some, but not most. I think were just giving feedback, don't feel overwhelmed to solve Bioware's SNAFU. Things will get better once they fix the bug. Just remember the more you change now the more you will have to fix later...

This has gone way off topic, and there is a thread for XP problem, caused by bioware. Locked.
