There are people like that on all servers. I find that people talk in-charater in large groups or in town but not on the hunt. As long as they don't talk ooc in town when other people and I are RPing I could care less. In fact I find a little bit of downtime from RP is good. When chasing hostile creatures it is hard and most times boring to RP anyway. Makz has a strict rule on RP when other people around them are RPing. If you are in town and they do this a DM will defintely handle it, if you re hunting with them, I doubt they will do much if anything against them. Also Party/Tells are OOC so if they are talking OOC in those talks then nothing will be taken against them. At least this is how I understand the rules. -Aboxorox

That would depend on who the person is and how strict of a player they are. I have met all five kinds of players on this server, and do tell me if there are more. Powergamers - typially always ooc out of town Nuetral Powergamers - In charater in large groups but other than that ooc Nuetral - Players who adjust based on Party members (Me) Nuetral RPers - In charater at all times other than when in large ooc party RPers - People who are always in-charater (sound like you) If you are with anybody above nuetral they will most likely talk ooc with you. As I said before, out of town and away from people is where most people switch to ooc. And nothing will be taken aginst them unless they are outnumbered against RPers.

FYI there are not exactly 'rules' per se about RPing.... more like guidelines. As with anything else on this server the overall rule on everything is to be polite to the other players (though not nessacarily thier characters ) Generally, things said out loud (ie normal talking - not in tells, party or DM) should be IC. This is especially true in towns where there are more players around. On the hunt, usually you are alone with your party so it tends to loosten up, but if you just keep OOC in party and tell you dont need to even worry about it at all. I believe that prefacing your text with a /p will put it as party, and /tk will do the same for general talk, so if you dont want to go click on the talk type in the lower Left, just preface your text whenever talking out of your default mode.

It's all a matter of deciphering someone's mood. I'm not a constant RPer because I sometimes just have a brain fart and don't feel like thinking in terms of a personality...
I would gripe about people who don't use proper punctuation and don't capitalize when RP, mispell like a typo-god on Battle.net, or those who speak really screwy english, but I don't because I make the mistake constantly.
Just let it pass, you'll find a group that holds true to thier word and regret it like I have done in ICQ or MUDs...

Aye as Silentus said, this is basically from what I can tell a RP encouraged server. Taken from the rules page: 2. PLAY TYPES: ALL play styles (RolePlayed and Hack-h-Slash alike) are acceptable on Fredian other than GRIEFING (deliberately hassling other players) and PK (Player Killing: killing characerters for Non-Role Play reasons). This will be dealt with as above. No questions. No rebuttles. Here's a hint though, don't dis someone's RP.. asking questions about it is okay but nothing turns me more grumpy than someoen shouting "METAGAMER!!!" or "POWERGAMER" (I do that sometimes to people, in jest though) Just don't hang around those people, problem solved RP sometimes gives me a headache, I play gloilin and the stupid idiot is on a rampage about someone in game, I the person get sick of dealing with it and hope it goes away soon

i spend a lot of my time in town or about RPing but when im training which is about less than half the time im not IC mainly because i find it hard to Roleplay in combat... although i will make the occasional comment and as an exception when in a battle set up by a DM i put a lot of effort to try and RP.
thats my truth

RPing and PGing and not two ends of a scale. I most definatly powergame, as I like to think about different builds, tweak numbers, etc.
However, I RP all the time, and generally don't like ooc.
Sometimes in smaller groups, mostly with my RL friends who also play on the server, I'll be totally OOC and not use //s.

I am going to add that RP is fine, but I dont not care for planly up to date ideals and issues are used for instance "sexism" that was not even thought about , in the dark age's (which my PC has been accused of , due to him saying a girl is pretty, and if other men had any class and honor they would do the same ) What's next they wil be taling about THEIR computer's .. I mean realy come on. *Get's on his horse and ride's off in to the setting darkness.* As what i have seen lately *Pay"s the bus driver a token and give's him the finger, then sit's in the back of the bus ,yo*
