A while ago Makz and I had a chat about this, a bit before then Getty and I had chatted about a similar notion. I have decided that I am going to start it and see how it goes...
I will be taking up to six people for an old fashioned adventuring group. Each of you will be required to make a new character. I will not be permitting half-half-half builds. I will not be taking subraces in violation of their common sense alignment guidelines.
At the end of each session (length will likely be somewhere between an hour and 4 hours) I will award any extra xp, etc. Once a session is closed, you will not be allowed to level your character up more than a single level between sessions.
Basically, you are looking at a NWN version of an old fashioned PnP group. The group will meet 1-2 times per week and play for however long is convenient for everyone. Between sessions they can work on crafts and rp with everyone else, but not level up.
Let me know who is interested and when it would be convenient to meet. I will take 6 for my trial group, but I think if this idea is well received, you will see the other DM's starting similar groups, and I am not adverse to running two or more groups at different times.

I like the idea quite a bit, although my playing time is limited (you see, my wife is very anti-gaming ) I may just remake Old Froin for the occasion....he'd be fun for this type of thing! Jer. Fitzfroin Bigloins Old Froin Bigloins

Ohhh man. I've been trying to get a way to do something like this for years now over the net with my pnp buddies. I know it's not at all possible yet for me to be in this, but when later I could, I'd absolutely love every second of it.

I'd be quite interested, but timeframe is a critical component for me as I cant really get on till my wife and kids crash for the night. Any concept of what time of the evening / day you will be running these?
Also it might be a good idea to express what level of commitment you want to see from those participating. It is reletively unreasonable to expect everyone to make it every game, by the same tolken, in this sort of thing you dont want people that very seldomly show up (which is why poor Xilo was saddened by the timing of this). PnPers are used to this concept, but others might not be, so what are you looking for - approximately 80% or better attendance or better?

I really like this idea a lot. I've never really been a role-player but am eager to learn how to do it properly and this seems like it would provide an excellent opportunity.
One question - Would the group have diverse roles (ie. one mage, one rogue, one fighter, etc)?

Umm, yeah... I love the idea! *signs up* That would be an advantage of this kind of party, you could each mesh that out at char. creation so you don't have 5 fighters and a monk.

Sounds like a lot of fun, count me in! (if you will take me). The one thing I have been missing is a true RP session, where I can actually talk my way out of situations.
Would prefer to play a rogue in the group, but I'm open to other things as well.
Time wise, I have class Tuesday and Thursday late night, (7-10 PM) and 1 class Monday and Wednessday at 11:30-1:30.

I am so glad Mala posted this up because I was thinking about doing the same thing I am glad that allot of you are interested. Good, good "rubs hands together taking out all his modules" this could be fun then. I will not take any players away from Mala's adventures though. So I will wait to see how this goes down and help Mala when needed. If it works I will start doing a module and do one every weekend on a sunday for about 6 hours. I will see though how this all pans out first. I would love to accaully play a real mod. oh well just, I have high hopes we will see.

Okay folks, I need time and day suggestions. I have decided that at least one group will be set to a schedule that Silentus can make. However, there are 7 days and 24 hours in each of those. I am game to run whenever. I do not want more than 6 people per group, and between Getty and I we can probably easily support a few groups.

I am at work Mon - Fri until 4:00 PM central time, so count me out during those times (unless I can figure out a way to punch a hole through the corporate firewall .... hmmm *evil grin*..... on second thought you'd better just count me out during those times as I do rely on the paycheck quite heavily).
Playing a cleric and offering healing services to the team sounds interesting to me, but if accepted as a player I could fill any role (probably).

I have decided that at least one group will be set to a schedule that Silentus can make. Oh bless you Mitz! Thank you, thank you, thank you! IoF has been meeting my RP needs in lieu of having a PnP group for the last year. This kind of situation directly addresses that need. I REALLY appreciate this opportunity. I was so stoked I even went out and made a character for it last night (just in case)! My best times are as follows (all in IoF time): 8pm - 12am: Su,M,W,R 8pm - 1am: F 8pm - 2am: Sa A. Tuesdays are usually (but not always) bad for me, but I can make them occasionally if needs be (8pm - 2am). B. While not preffered, I could start as early as 6pm occasionally (but not all the time or my wife would leave me ------------------ Couple thoughts: 1. Personally (if given a choice) I would opt for 1 or 2 sessions a week, but will be happy to play in as many or few as you make available. 2. It might be nice to try to balance the class types in the party (to some degree) as Phoenix indicated. 3. It woud be wise before starting to get a feel for the types of expectations the players have. I say this only because when I ran NWN modules with a group that I played PnP with, it ended up turning into a hack session. As I was playing (DMless mods) it was a little inevitable), but attempts at true RP eventually just got ignored. As players we had differing expectations and I would hate to see someone on either side of the RP v HnS spectrum dissapointed. 4. Party permitting, I'd like to try playing a bard - while pretty useless alone (sorry Lumix), they can be good in a party... and I have a few RP ideas for him
