Ok I have no idea what happened to my character... As you might have known I was gone for two weeks and this was my first chance to get online. When I went on under the name Sarn Sacrimeh it said that character was not vailid to have a spell. I have gotten a similar msg to this on another server, but that was a feat offered that should not have been offered to me...the admin said no to fixing my character and said it was a perfect way to test if I had messed with my character, PLEASE DO NOT DO THAT TO ME. I did NOT mess with the character in any way. I have no idea what happened, I am level 8, I think, ranger and when I checked my spell list and put on all spells though I do not remember what levels. Please fix it for me, I will put no more spells on until he is level 20 ranger and I am sure he does not have any spells he shouldn't have!

A level 8 ranger shouldn't have much in the way of spells. What spell specifically? Are you getting a general illegal character message on log in? I am not at all clear on what the issue here is, which means that we cannot help you very well. Please give us very specific information. We will make sure that any problems are sorted out. On a personal note, I have never known a staff member here to refuse to do their level best to help anyone with any problem. Send your specifics to Makzimia via private message, and he will sort you out one way or another

What you are probably experiencing is having something on that is illegal due to a spell being on it. Only way I can fix it is to catch you on, and remove some server settings temporarily. I will keep an eye out.
Also, there are bugs relating to this, being fixed at the moment, by bioware.
Makz.

Yes it is because of the spells exceding the level it is allowed, sorry if I did not make that clear. I knew that from the start, but I cannot even get on, gives me a msg character invalid unless you mean with another person. I know how to fix it, I am sorry, but you must do it. All you have to do is go in with LETO, and I know your policy on that, and remove all spells in it's slots. After that it will be a legal character again. I think I was allowed up to 3rd level and I remember thinking at the time that it was too high a level but this was two weeks ago and one busy, exciting vacation behind, so I am not sure. And there have been no updates from bioware since that last problem occured so I imagine you are right being a bug in the system giving stuff out prematurely and causing chaos around the community.

i think i had a problem similair in a pvp build maybe you dont have the right ability scrores to support the spell for example - 1 modifier on wisdom owuld do that to you.

Sarn's Wisdom is 12, I guess that could be the problem too...I didn't realise that you needed wisdom to cast spells, but even then Bioware should have stopped it from allowing me to choose spells.

We're not going to tell you that you messed with your char. There are a lot of notorious loopholes that allow legitamite characters to become illegal.
I believe the Ranger rule is: 11 wisdom for level 1 Ranger spells 12 wisddom for level 2 Ranger spells 13 wisdom for Level 3 Ranger spells 14 wisdom for level 4 Ranger spells [highest spell level]
So if you had 12 wisdom, and Bioware had allowed you to load a Level 3 or higher spell, then something was wrong. I have never seen this with Rangers per se, but I have seen its ilk with other classes.
Login with a different PC and try to catch Makz when you are on. Unfortunately, other DMs cannot solve this problem since we need server level access to change the restrictions, or to go Letoing about.

Character was fixed. Thanks for fixing it. Problem was I took a level wizard and had 8 int. I don't know went wrong there because wizards for all I knew could have 3 int, they just wouldn't be too good on the mageside. Ah well thanks Makz for addressing and fixing my problem, and for all those who commented on what could be wrong. P.S. - Those who want to know why I made a wizard with 8 int---arcane archer---guess no arcane archer on Sarn

Actually in standard 3rd ed rules there is a limitation of 8 or 9 INT for wizards. Whats more is that if you have a 9, you are limited to only cantrips (and maybe 1st level spells too - dont recall exactly). I remember this because Vugor was originally created as a stupid PnP mage. He was strictly a RP character who COULD NOT ever be good in his chosen field. Due to the nature of NWN, I didnt follow that build (as well as some of his beliefs/demeanors) here as I wanted to be able to walk around without a party to back me up

I believe it's 10+spell level, requiring a 10 for cantrip, meaning the bottom end *should* be 10, since that's required to cast SOME spell. Don't know what the NWN game mechanics require...

I swear it was 9 - but dont recall for sure - maybe 9 for cantrips with 10 needed for 1st level spells? Perhaps it was 9 for 3rd ed and 10 for NWN? Whatever - point being that NWN probably also has a similar prereq as it is based on 3rd Ed rules.

Try bard for Sarn. for some crazy reason, the invalid char enforcements you find in wizards are not enforced in bards. it should let you get AA.
