It has come to my attention that certain venders in the game sell Thieves' tools of varying quality. (Not lockpicks, Thieves' tools.) Has anyone been able to get these to work?
I'd like to point out that I have a Lockpick skill over 40, and certain doors that I can open without the tools, I can't get to work with the tools. (Yes, they are locked.) I've tried both using the item on the door, and using the item on myself then unlocking the door (No bonus.)
Addicted informed me that these are bioware tools, so there is no scripting that could go wrong. What am I not doing? Or do these tools simply not work?

-er I'm not sure what the difference is between lockpicks and thieves' tools is...
I use the +10 to OL item (lockpicks I think) and it works fine. So does the other item that gives +s to OL.
However, I can answer your question about the doors. They are simple dead doors, there is nothing on the other side. Sometimes you will get a DC=24, and your roll will be like 68, but you still fail. Other times your DC=100, and you tend to always fail. IF you can hit that DC, you still fail.
There is simply nothing behind those doors in the mod.

*sigh* no one pays attention I swear ... the thieves tools are exactly what I fixed so they would not open doors that are locked including player houses... they are required to disable the PTS traps ( persistent traps) only currently in the arcane plane, more coming once I feel I have had enough of a break.

I had a thought on this further, pending on what Richard does, I may very well change the name of the Thieves Tools to Arcane Traps tools, and have those in the multi-flavours. That then, makes more sense as to why Bards and Rogues only have the ability to handle them. Also, of course, I will then limit where I place those persistent traps... or not... I am a little undecided on this thus far.
