Hi Makz/everyone else,
As my character (Cama Undt) approaches lv. 40 (woohoo) and now has more money than she ever needs, I'm thinking it would be nice if we had a system in place via the Temples where we could donate GP? I think it'd be a nice RP addition. Thoughts everyone?

It's also good to use those funds for a guild so that you can help newer characters. That's what I've been trying to do. Just a suggestion.

You can give your money to a guild if you're part of one. Also, unless you're a cleric or such, giving to the temple may not really be something your character would typically do.
My characters usually end up finding a newbie on the server to take with me on a hunting trip, and will pay for the trip in gold. It's basically not only a gift to the new person, but it also gives them some knowledge of the island and how things operate in Fredian. I think most players feel that the best way to donate would be in person to another player so that you are making friends.

Just one thing about giving money to newbies... Im all for it, but try not to go too crazy... I mean, I would easily give a million gold to a newbie, however by doing so I just completly outfitted that character for his next few levels - it is good to be geneorous, but dont go so far as to not keep things challenging for them... generally speaking, I try to avoid donating more than 10k per season to newbies (or 20k/season for services rendered) - in most cases this will buy them a nice item or 2, but still keep them wanting for better equipment.

It's an interesting idea to give money to newbs, but as I RP my character, although she is a CG Cleric/Fighter/CoT, she doesn't trust easily at first, therefore just handing over some cash to an unknown person might cause trouble.. after all, what if that character becomes someone truly vile? I just funded their killing spree. haha..
Clerics/Paladins/etc. are known for living modestly and donating to support their deity's temples.. just makes more sense to me for my PC to give to a temple rather than a newb.

I agree that it's important to limit the amount of gold given to newbies. A few thousand is plenty in most cases.
I guess if paladins and clerics need to donate money in the temple, maybe Makz could put a re-named trash can inside the temples. It could look like a place to put a donation, but effectively remove the gold or items donated from the sytem.
People might not like the idea of donating items into the trash, though... but for rp purposes it would work just fine.

Of course, if you're a Neyaite, you donate your body, your time, and fun stuff occurs...
I'll have to go check these donation boxes out and spit in the holy one, then get cursed for like by some holy god...
