I believe that there are too many items on IoF that offer all kinds of immunities:
the main immunities that i think should be reduced or removed *on items* are:
Immunity to death magic
Freedom of movement
The main reasons for this are:
-They are both available via spells (cast/scrolls/wands)
-Since basically everyone has those, the spells that have such effects become rather useless, both the spells that grant those immunities and the spells that are based on those factors, e.g. Web, Wail of the Banshee, Weird, Phantasmal killer, finger of death (to some extent), implosion, evards, just to name a few.
-Having high enough saves will basically provide a 95% immunity anyways, and most players do have saves in the 40s to 60s
-the 5% fail factor (on 1) is fun and as in dev crit (most people have high enough fort saves) the other death spells should have a slight chance of affecting the player, namely, wail of the banshee etc.
-Immunities on items are nondispellable and thus empower the non magic users.
Items that provide immunity to death magic include but are not restricted to:
Belt of guiding light
belt of greater guiding light
deaths embrace
ultimate aqua belt
to freedom of movement:
Armor of creator
ultimate yellow belt
belt of freedom
cloak of freedom of movement
i know that modifying, removing some of the items will be quite time consuming and may seem quite impossible, but i believe its possible to script something for that matter? (not sure)
what would be a good step towards removing such immunities partially at least is to modify/remove the ultimate aqua belt, remove the greater guiding light belt
and thus leaving deaths embrace and belt of guiding light.
the remaining belt would be quite a hard choice, since it only offers this one immunity and chosing it of course removes other benefits, and such a powerful immunity should come at at least some cost, same for deaths embrace since one would be giving up armor of creator.
for freedom of movement:
probably not much can be done here, except to perhaps mod aoc or only leaving the basic bioware items that offer it in play...
