OK Mr. Non post himself will finally post. I think the real important thing here is that having a diety's favored weapon, or religous colors and other things of the such are a great thing to add a little flavor to a religion. Should anyone strictly abide by it ? Of course not! There can be many different sects that worship the same god or goddes all using thier own colors, codes etc.. I for one just like to add things to the game like that, but as I said by no means do I believe everyone should follow what one person has layed down. I went as far to create a whole profile for The House of Tyranny (church dedicated to Zadok ran by Vugor's favorite young lady .. Cymaniel Deslarion.)This Included colors according to rank , holy days, sacrafice and frequency, symbols, and a few other details. Naturally since I never posted any of it many people never found out about it my apologies. What it all comes down to is we are here to have fun. For me adding a little flavor helps, but on the other hand everyone is not me. OK nuff from me time to

Of course, having some people not using the correct colours/weapons/whatever for a god will lead to all sorts of fighting and factionalisation and schisms.
What a roleplay opportunity!

Hrm... ICly, forcing worshippers of a god that is widely despised to openly show their "colours" isnt really too smart is it?
"Why" a favoured weapon as well? What if that character is a monk of Anah?
It's all about personal preference really though, but im of the impression that each person will follow a deity according to their own personal viewpoint.

I can think of several examples where despised/evil gods/societies display their colors loud and proud as it were.
Zhentil Keep fanatics, Bhaal followers, even the drow to an extent, and of course Red Wizards of Thay.
There are plenty of real world examples. Ghengis Khan, the Vikings, Nazi Germany (really makes sense with any despised army, heck even the Romans).

Yeah, good point.
Lets remember though, anyone who doesnt want to do this doesnt have to, and be warned, branding your own character with colours in this way may attract (maybe unwanted) attention.
