Just a thought, but it doesn't seem right to be able to take items from the chests in the houses, without some notice being taken. For instance ....The mayors house. He's in his bedroom and stands there while you open his chest and help yourself.....Or the foot-lockers in the barracks.
By donating meat we can move alignment towards good, How about a check for being seen opening a chest and an alignmet shift towards evil ?

I played an offline mod that did that very thing .... open a chest and bam! your alignment shifts toward evil. I have a question though. Shouldn't stealing like that affect the law/chaos axis instead of good/evil?
I am not suggesting anything - just need clarification really. I understand the reasons for not being able to shift the law/chaos axis (monk/barbarian and the like).

Again - I am neither for nor against this idea - I was simply thinking of a real life situation of someone performing petty theft. I would personally view that person as unlawful not necessarily evil.

You worry too much about something that is not always the case, and, I am not doing scripting for something that happens, when they are present .... so... no
