OK, take away my EQ, but I want a refund on my cheetos and time. Send e-mail to get my paypal account, or send a check or money order to 1234 my street, my town, my state. Accounting101, class dismissed. My only problem with taking away EQ, is other people. I know how I would handle it (I'd be frustrated at first, but move on), but would you be willing to lose a long time player (heck doesn't have to be long time, maybe just a good player) because THEY couldn't take it? risk != gain

Well, I've lost players in LARPs that I've had in my game for five or more years. It hurts, but you move on. ALL items are IC and should be subject to IC penalties. XP is OOC and subject to OOC penalties. If being killed by a dragon and raised doens't cause you to lose XP then being killed by the Knights and raised shouldn't cost you XP either. A note on the 'unique items' Karl's armor is craftable...ask Ore, Vugor, Mack, or Mala (there are probably others that can do it too). IMHO anyone that leaves because they have to re-acquire equipment, goes with my best wishes and welcome when they choose to return. I meant the comments I put on the Rating Board. This is the best server out there, and that is due in part to the willingness of its staff to put a firm foot down when needed.

OK, I changed my vote and added C. some equipment. I edited out the equipment remarks and left the rest. I still think whatever punishment has to be fun, since I wouldn't mind losing EQ I guess that really mean I thought it would be fun. I guess I was trying to think about others, but this is a vote for my opinion. I like the Sneaker Pimps.

Also, losing gold and gear is an IC punishment. Period. YOU didn't work hard to get all that stuff, your CHARACTER did. All YOU did was sit at a computer stuffing your face with cheetos for a few hours. Well, that's all *I* did, anyway Therefore, anything your CHARACTER loses, YOU and a bag of cheetos can get back in just a few more hours, yes even uniques, etc. Keepin' It Real, Your Really Real For Real Shwabbaman cheetos? --> www.penny-arcade.com/view.php3?date=2004-01-23&res=lAnd by unique items, i mean one of a kinds... as in you loose it it is gone... there is no getting it back... no ammount of cheetos will get them back...

I'm all for punishments that hurt (I was taught to take the punishment if you get caught ((it was on my own I learned to avoid punishment don't do the crime)))
Getting caught should mean loss of something, depending on the crime, it could be time (jail sentence), compensation (repayment of losses), punitive damages (loss of gold or possessions, amount varies by crime) or a combination of some or all.
Someone caught killing for no apparent reason should expect to lose all the possessions he/she is carrying if caught, most major crimes should require loss of all carried possessions.
If a player really doesn't want possessions confiscated they should play with-in the bounds of law, evil can be portrayed within the bounds of lawful activity.
I am currently making a chaotic evil character for the sole purpose of creating a plot for other characters to try and stop me after my intentions become publicly known.
One of the main things I love about fantasy lives, I can have multitudes of them. I create a character who doesn't live up to my expectations, I can make another. I create a character who fulfills my expectations, I can create another. I play to go on journeys, some parts of the journeys are boring and monotonous, others are wild and adventurous. If committing a crime in a fantasy world casues the loss of fantasy weapons, armor, gold and all possessions there are three options;
1st: Use the same character and obtain possessions again on the same server;
2nd: Start a new character on the same server;
3rd: Go play on another server;
Even though it is all fantasy, there needs to be rules, laws and consequences for breaking either. Everything else should be done on an arena server. JMO

FYI, there will be code framework for things that we won't see in the original version I intend to release. It is so I can incorporate more punishment options later on.
So when it hits the streets, don't say, "Awww, my idea didn't get included," because it might appear more weeks down the road. As such, continued discussion can be and still is fruitful.

It sounds like the criminal justice system has been delegated to the right man, says I ;D Truth be told, I like the sound of everything, considering each infraction will be different. Some characters will set a trap, injure or kill a traveler and be publicly jailed, lashed or temporarily imprisoned with the right to visitation. Some will murder an important figurehead and be privately imprisoned with no visitation and be excecuted privately because they were able to pay for it. There are so many different possibilities. I am posting mainly to support this motion for consequences of illegal activity. Heck, it would help us to decide who in Fredian really IS evil Anyone who speaks at any length to Norah will eventually hear her say that Fredian is a "lawless land". It is too fine a place to live and work and love to be so haphazard ;D

1a 2c 3e 4 None of these sorry Xps taken away why that does not make sence to me. How about they must collect certain objects, or Kill a creature for the King or something. Puplic humiliation always is great too. With a chance to excape of coarse. Locked in a small cage in the middle of styne would be perfect LOL. There is still roleplay there and the player is not just locked up in some dark cell not having any fun. And hey if the man or woman is talking to much, so not to be humilated by others you could always silence him or gag him.
