Next I would like to move on to determining tier structures for repeat offenders. Again, if possible try to address things in thier multiple choice structure. Concensus can only be reached if we are answering the same questions. If you have a radically differnt approach to how to do this that you like, let me know, but keep in mind that simple is better. I dont think that we should even consider anything more complicated than these (and personally I think many of these are too much too). After we are done with this topic, we will finally assign sentancing.
I pose to you the following questions: 1. What tier structure should be used for Evading Arrest? (choose 1 only) 2. What tier structure should be used for Theft? (choose 1 only) 3. What tier structure should be used for Murder? (choose 1 only)
...TIER STRUCTURES ......a. 1 tier, same punishment for each repeat offence ......b. 2 tier, harsher punishment after 2nd offence (and subsequent) ......c. 3 tier, harsher punishment after 2nd offence, harshest after 3rd (and subsequent) ......d. 2 tier, harsher punishment after 3rd offence (and subsequent) ......e. 3 tier, harsher punishment after 3rd offence, harshest after 5th (and subsequent) ......f. 2 tier, harsher punishment after 5th offence (and subsequent) ......g. 3 tier, harsher punishment after 5th offence, harshest after 10th (and subsequent) ......h. Other that I didnt mention
4. For Murder should there be a special serial killer / homicidal maniac clause (choose 1 only)? ...a. Yes, 5+ murders merits extra special harsh punishment ...b. Yes, 10+ murders merits extra special harsh punishment ...c. Yes, 15+ murders merits extra special harsh punishment ...d. Yes, 20+ murders merits extra special harsh punishment ...e. No ...f. Other that I didnt mention
--- My personal take --- 1a 2a (while I would like 2 tiers, simplicity will help this work in the long run I think) 3d (while I would like 3 tiers, simplicity will help this work in the long run I think) 4b

_______ And commentary... While some crime and the like makes for good RP, and the pursuit and punishment of criminals likewise is good for RP, the recent amount of STUPID crime has really been killing RP for me with Mala, so I switched characters and what happens? The same STUPID crime destroys my enjoyment of my other character. No system is going to help unless the people committing the crimes improve their methods and timing. Killing Derto in plain sight every time there is someone around to give you attention is NOT roleplaying. My solution for repeat offenders has now become that if any of my characters kills someone on purpose for any reason, you'd best plan on respawning because there will be no more OOC raises from my crew.

i say B all around...
I'd also advocate a LOOOOONG stay on death row for killing derto followed by a long painful excruciating death in west styne....
PS - what happened to the guards in west styne.... they do nothing now

I haven't killed any players with the intention of killing them, but have done so to "knock" them out.
However, Fal Druar is on sabbatical until the patch fixes RDD bugs and I am making an evil character and still working on a good plot once I get to a reasonably high enough level to carry it off.
Addicted, I am thinking of a plot that would definitely require DM help if it is to be for more than a couple characters to deal with, expect a PM from me after I get some more levelling in, I want my evil character to go out in style. A battle where Silentus can write a book about how the good struggled to defeat the evil.
The reason I add this here is because if the CJ system is up and running when I carry out a plot I will expect a public execution if I can be taken alive.

I like to keep it simple, the less administration, the better. So for all minor crimes, that is all but murder, I say a) For Murder I'd like to see a tiered system, for now I will go with c (the fastest one to get to harshest punishment).
1)a 2)a 3)c 4)a

*************************************** Regarding 4E, there is a difference between murder and self defence, as well as involuntary manslaughter.
If the ruling authority (whoever is decided to make the final decisions) determines MURDER for no other reason than violence, revenge or other motives for commiting murder (insanity was not an issue back than, although you could claim you were possessed, but most possessed people died during exorcism); available and reliable information is what the ruling authority should base their decisions on, and who they consider reliable for obtaining information not directly observed is for individual authority figures.
Oh yeah, can we impale murders, I believe they have impaled bodies as placeables now, and a sign next to the body stating, "Murder is not tolerated by those not authorized to kill by order of King Wend". I know it won't be the actual character's body, but the visual representation should make a very loud statement. And characters that encounter cheerful children in school and happy or content merchants should realize the law is not unreasonable, just strict.

--- TOPIC CLOSED --- As this is needed to continue on with sentancing, this topic is now locked
Acutally, after looking at the numbers, it looks like the winners have been selected as even atding 3 more votes to the next most prevalant options in all cases would not be enough to change the overall vote. The winners are: POLL RESULTS TO DATE:1. What tier structure should be used for Evading Arrest? (choose 1 only) ......70% ...a. 1 tier, same punishment for each repeat offence2. What tier structure should be used for Theft? (choose 1 only) ......70% ...b. 2 tier, harsher punishment after 2nd offence (and subsequent)3. What tier structure should be used for Murder? For Murder should there be a special serial killer / homicidal maniac clause (choose 1 only)? ......70% ...a. Yes, 5+ murders merits extra special harsh punishmentThe next topic (Punishment pt3 - Sentancing) will open up as soon as I have written it!
