To answer the questions first. 1. A (you don't stop being a knight just because you take the armor off)
2. Yes a uniform should be required, I mean how else are you supposed to tell if someone is a knight or not.
3. 6 should be on during peak hours, this only due to the size of our world.
4. 12 new knights would be nice. This gives a nice rotation to the shifts.
I do agree with alot of the previous posts on this that the uniform should be slightly different according to rank and such. As far as dispersment of the knights throughout the lands, well obviously the higher traffic areas should get more knights and taper off from there. Just my 2 cents.

the problem with requiring too much of knights is that it might limit their enjoyment of this game...
also consider how many people are on at peak times... it's usually mid-30s... 1/5th of all residents should be knights? are you sure about this? is 20% of the population that are online during peak times willing to be knights?
My characters tend to be straight(the ones i currently play anyway) as an arrow in terms of the sort of laws we have set here but i doubt anywould be willing to take up the knightly cause... i'm sure a lot of other "goodguys" would rather not be involved in the policing...
perhaps we should get everything working first and then take a poll of characters willing to be knighted into service then determine this stuff...

Time to throw a wrench For 4, we don't need a static value, do we? What if the number of players increases or increases (it never decreases ) ? Ugly way to say it: "The number of knights chosen should be a function of how many knights are logged in (and on duty, if we have duty) on the average, proportionate at some ratio to the average number of players logged in." Easy way to say it: If we got 30 players online average, and 3 knights online average, that is 1 knight to 10 players. I vote for 1:7 =-) The idea is choosing a number of knights so that the desired ratio is in effect 90% of the time, or 'most of the time' (51-90 ). Of course, if you pick a straight number, I suppose if things grow you can just pick another, larger, straight number, right? I always got to make it complex....

I would love to go there Addicted, but I dont see it as feasible. From a simplicity standpoint it is just a hard deal to keep on top of. That is kind of what I was looking for by trying to hire alot more knights than we actually truely need so that we can have a good number around reguardless of thier on-duty status.

I pose to you the following questions (select one): 1. Are knights responsible to be on duty (a) all the time, or only when they agree to be? (on duty meaning they should always respond to offences when approached, unless already engaded in another dispute) ...55% ...b. When they wish to be
2. Should Knights have to wear 'Uniform' Armor when on duty (yes/no)? ...100% ...yes
3. Optimally, how many Knights should be on-duty during peak playing hours (type your number, Ill take an average)? ... ...4
4. To that end, how many knights in total would we like to see King Merrick appoint (type your number, Ill take an average)? ... ...10Please note I would like to see this handled much the way that Addicted said. The knights should at first at least be a self governing body in that they should use common sence in deciding how many need to be on at any given time. I will recomen to that body that they attempt to keep at least a 1 to 10 ratio of knights to populace, but they can choose to 'call for backup' if they want to.
