---- WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU FEEL YOU ARE BEING TREATED UNFAIRLY ----[/color][/b]
There are not rules in this reguard beyond the simple concept (listed in the CRITICAL RULES) that you should be attempting to be polite OOC and are not trying to ruin someone elses fun for your own entertainment. I put these guidelines here to assist players in realizing the recourse they may have.
In Character Disputes[/b] - This is simple - In Character is fine as long as both players are in character. The only options are IC RP based interactions (talking wiht a knight, hiring an assasin type, greasing palms, etc...).
Out of Character Disputes[/b] - If you feel you are being mistreated by another player, follow these guidelines:
1. OOC discussion - Politely inform the opposition that you are speaking OOC and the nature of your concern.
2. Contact a DM - If you experience (or anticipate) a hostile responce to your plea, PLEASE contact a DM (on the DM channel). They can come and quietly hover and watch what is transpiring, or take an active interactive role if needed. Do not hesitate to contact the DMs - that is one large reason Makz attempts to keep a DM on at all times (ar as often as is possible).
3. Get proof - If a DM sees it, great, but if no DM is on, or you think of it after the fact, use screenshots (F12) to backup your case.
Player vs DM Disputes[/b] - Tread lightly here. Makz selects his DMs carefully and they will (like any policing force) recieve all benifit of any doubt. If you believe a DM is treating you unfairly, follow these guidelines:
1. Reread thier comments with a positive light - Text based communication is very easy to misinterpert. Most often there is actually no issue at all - just too much personal feeling.
2. Cut DMs some slack - DMing can be a very taxing job. VERY RARELY a DM might act a bit more impulsivly than is called for. I repeat, this is rare, but they are human and are prone to getting steamed like everyone else. Makz very deliberatly avoids those he thinks will act rashly though. If its not a huge deal, give them some time and chat them up on it later.
3. Confer with another DM - If you feel your issue with a DM is justified and you have atempted to straighten it out with that DM with no final agreement, you might want to bring it up with another DM or with Makz. The DMs do confer (in game and here on the private DM board) about behaviours in players and in appropriate DMing styles.
Player vs Makz Disputes[/b] - This is very rare as well and quite simple:
1. Makz wins
2. Refer to 1
This is his world. He tries to make it fun for all - if he deems that you are trying to make it un-fun for someone you have the choice of complying or leaving. Its harsh, but necassary. If you want to grief others or (on the other extream) to be completely hard-core RP, this may not be the right world for you.
