Gold is not the end all of Fredian, or any other long lived PW I would imagine, as there is just too much needed and given by the engine no matter what steps you take.
The bank currently has a limit on storage of gold, that I will leave on, but will increase, however, a reasonable limit will always need to be implemented for sanity sake.
With that in mind... gold can be stored, but is discouraged in the persistent chests, if you however put too much in, and I do not know of a limit, but I am sure one does exist, you may lose it, at least some.
Most of you that have been around long enough know that the real emphasis of economy on Fredian is barter
so, I will as always encourage that as much as possible.
