You had to be there to feel it. I remember on being a a BBS multi-user chat (10 liner) whose owner is now deceased after running it for 19 years (1984 - 2003, R.I.P.) that in 1992 I remember a huge storm of excitement about the new possibilities opened up by the 486DX2/66 alone. That same year, Future Crew made Unreal II with the first real-time rendered 3D objects (with onboard SVGA) allowed possible by this wonderous new technology. In just four years we were seeing DreamWorks quality computer graphics in our movies at the movie theaters... Those advances wouldn't of been possible without the precedents 486 set Change was in the air. I remember talking with a hobbyist and we marveled that the internet is going to be very cool now. He laughed and said, "It's an information revolution!" Newscasters didn't use the term until a few years later.
