People who refuse to roleplay

today i had the misfortune of meeting dauntless whos log in name is draught. he had cast some AE spells
AE= area effect. im west styne and killed some helpless little dwarf. another dwarf had raised him and he rolled and remembered what happened. also the second dwarf saw the whole thing. dauntless also admits to threatening and killing the dwarf. so i asked him to come along to randstat for a nice little stay. he of course refuses and has to be killed. at which time he says we better rez him right away or we will pay for it as he will go get his higher level wizard to come get us.
nice roleplay job number 1 right there.
so we emote that we chain him up and gag him. note you cannot cast or run when chained and gagged. so when i get him to the portal area in randstat he says he has to go afk. im figurening oh boy i wonder what he is going to pull now as he was obviously changing his spells. so he buffs up and atatcks me and kills me i know amazingly. then rezs me and says i was knocked out. i tell him no thats a load of crap he was bound and gagged. he then just runs off. nice job number 2
so i sent him a tell saying i would report it to maz about the event he says maz owes him a favor and ill be lucky to not have my character wind up missing. so he comes back to town so i kill him with the help of xilo. at which time various people thank me for killing him. he then threatens all kinds fo horse crap. so i leave him dead and go about my rounds. he then sends me tells on how my characters are going to start disspearing and all that. and how he wasent going to roleplay being in jail for 30 minutes because he said i didnt listen to him. I am really REALLY fed up with all these dumbass people that we have gotten on here. alot of them get power leveled then become monster asshats and cause nothing but trouble and headaches for those of us who want to roleplay and have fun. can anything be done about these people? maybe give me a axe +100 Vs silly git that kills on a DC 10000 on hit? hmm hmm

...although, if less time was spent in lower levels, it would be harder for someone to be so abusive. I like systems that get people up to double-digit levels fairly fast and then slow it down to a more reasonable pace, myself. Of course, a level 35 Dwarven Defender is going to be able to pick on a level 12 wizard, but at least the level 12 wizard has a couple options (haste and invis ;D ) that a level 2 wouldn't

Don't know what to tell you other than I feel for ya. I've had similar dealings with some folks whom I am far too classy to name;-) All I can say is: we decide what we want Fredian to be first and foremost, right? If we as a community decide we disapprove of such behaviour, we can make change without resorting to nagging the Powers that Be.

So, how do we want to treat folks like this? With the same respect and dignity they have shown us or with more than they might have warranted? Myself, I've tended to give folks a second chance after they spout off at me (after all there is that miniscule possibility it might have been a little bit my fault:-D) and after that, if they are still being clowns I just entirely ignore them.

Sometimes that option (ignoring them) isn't an option I realise but you can go along way with it. Folks who aren't interested in RP by and large will likely lose interest as their antics aren't being responded to, while the folks who are enjoying and actively engaging in RP will be entering a more receptive environment.

Any other thoughts?

This specific case sounds legitimate to me, but I have not heard the other side of it, so I will not pass judgement. I just wanted to to put out a simple reminder - it is very easy to read what is typed in a fasion that was not intended. I have seen it alot and tried to head it off, but these unintentional conflicts happen all the time. Try as best you can to make sure that you read the situation correctly. If it is getting fully out of hand, go ooc and with as little malice as you can muster make sure that you understand each other fully.

Avoid letting IC stuff bother you ooc as best you can. Its hard, and some players will make it harder, but be the example of what we want to see here (plus it makes you look better to others anyway

I see it happen all the time even by those that say they rp all the time. No names named. Powerful has a odd effect even on rp folks , I seen rp folks not like the way things are going , maybe not the way had plan so they change it by force. Or even log on other chars to punish them in a non rp fashion. Not many is above this ,just a fact of the game. RP is for willing folks if they are not rping the way you like leave or tell them to leave. IF its a death matter as you stated you did the right thing get help and take care of it. As I been told before many times this is not a RP server. Just has a strong RP present.

This is a world of different people doing different things for different reasons and everyone should remember that . If the person you are interacting with isn’t going to play the way you WANT them too, ignore them or go find those that will. I know I know the response to that is " but they wont leave me alone or they keep attacking me or insulting me" Well than they WILL be noticed by others and reported . Try not to feed into them because that is probably how
they like to play.

It seems to all come down to majority sways the way.
