Hi, I've been getting some complaining about how gold doesn't mean very much. You know, its an awful shame that druids and clerics have heal spell and it doesn't identify them as unique because everyone can simply buy a motherload of heal potions. Since everyone is a millionaire and gold is "meaningless", how about the prices of heal potions skyrocket? That'll fix it. 1. Gold will have more meaning 2. Clerics and Druids will be more unique 3. Paladins, Monks, Lay on hands, other battle healers... While we are at it, we should also charge more for resusrrection scrolls to drain the economy. What do you all think?

Well I would like to see Lvl Restrictions turned off and make everything crazy expensive. where a +2 longsword would be 50000gold, also limit the really good treasures from chests, ... overall this would make the whole world much harder to get very good items....
That would also tie into the xp problem... problem sovled
Just what I think, but I don't think others think like me

Something like this had come up on another server I played on. But the difference on this server is there are level restrictions so that does not allow all to use resurrection right away. I would think that full resurrection scrolls/rods should cost more. An extremely (imo) powerful spell and an item harnessing that spell wouldn’t be that common to come by...nor would it be a decent price. If things like that cost more, maybe people would think a little more when it came to adventuring. Perhaps every now and then you would need to seek out a cleric to raise a fallen companion. Or seek one out to travel with you if you think you may come across some imminent death. Could be a pain at times yes Since money isnt that hard a commodity to come by I cant see that it would hurt all that much to raise the cost of healing supplies. It is a gift to have that power some might say. Just maybe think a bit before just casually spending your money. The most I have seen a Cure Serious Wounds go for is 59 gold not much of a dent if you have millions in the bank. When you say skyrocket prices for potions are we talking in the hundreds....or the thousands

Well, if you're going to do this for heal potions, you should do it across the board. Otherwise you're just pandering to the healers. Gotta make lore rings shoot through the roof so bards can pretend to be useful again. Gotta make black blade of disaster and other such "companion" spells shoot through the roof so fighters are needed again. Gotta make buff/invis/etc potions/rods/rings/etc shoot through the roof so mages can feel necessary again. And so on and so forth. I'm not saying it's a bad idea, but I agree wholeheartedly with Thara. Make everything more expensive or make cash harder to get, but don't just piddle around and change one or two things. However, Makz has already stated that he will not remove the item level restriction, so I say leave it all as is. What's the point in having to wait til 6th level just to then have to save up 300k for a dagger +3? Also, I don't really think heals that cost 700gps make healers any less useful. To be honest, I'd much rather have a cleric casting Heal for free than dish out 7k to replace potions I'd used. Even though 7k isn't much to someone who can rake in 100k in an hours work, it adds up when you spend 21k to stock up on heals and 20k to stock up on rez's and another 10-20k to stock up on buff potions etc...
Well, I've stated my case, now let's hear from the whiney-butts Your Economical Neighborhood Shwabbaman

I agree
Raise the prices across the board but make sure its balanced though and reasonable...
If all else fails...I still would like see stores selling diffrent items and spread across the land...
lower priced and leveled items in Styne...and the further you go out..the more exotic and higher leveled items are found...(example in the mountains have a shop that sold nothing but high leveled items +7 and +8, in the desert have all your +4 items...and so forth)
I think it would force exploration and perhaps eleminate some of the issues we've had with the lower leveled charcters being bombarded with high leveled characters all the time.

I think draining the current gold and keeping huge influxes of gold out in the future should be the way to go.
IMO:
1st: Decrease treasure awards for levels above 10th to get the same drops as 10th level.
2nd: As Mak already said he would, decrease the amount merchants will pay for items, especially crafted items. This is logical because of the limited number of customers they can hope to sell items to.
3rd: Only the Heal potions, Raise Dead and Reserrection Scrolls have a price increase. Do not want the new characters to have a hard time to find supplies especially if they say no to the bombardment of offers to be "Trained".
4th: Slowly remove items from stores while continuing to encourage players to use the Buy & Sell thread to get together, and only remove items that are replicated through crafting. The exception being weapons, there are enough weapon smiths and bowyers to replace those. (Leave ammo in until that area of crafting is built better).

Subject closed. I have done what I am going to do about this, and there is no way without considerable mucking around to make individual items cost more than others, ie: custom versions of rez scrolls and heals etc... the system in NWN does now allow you to just raise the price on one item, there is a script set that was from the guys who made CNR, and we all know how good that was right?? not touching it. Prices are set by a global markup on each store ie: 100% sell and whatever buy, which I have set as I said elsewhere to 5% and a 50,000GP limit. Back WAY back, when I first made Fredian in August 2003 I was determined to keep gold a minor issue, reason behind this is simple, NOONE could carry thousands of pieces of gold coin anyway... but the mighty bioware made it that you could and items to cost silly prices etc etc... no coppers, no silver coin... all way out there... gold won't buy you a house or anything.. and the reason is this... I wanted players to commit themselves to the world from a RP point and involvement point, both RP and forums etc, and not have the power to use gold to get what they want. In reality a gold coin would have bought you a lot in medieval times. If I had my way things would sell for and be bought for thousands of GP at most, and we'd have copper and silver coins Anyway, point is, without raising ALL prices, or putting custom versions of particular items, or running up specific scripts, not going to happen that way. Makz.
