Last night I was using the personal chest in west styne blacksmith. I had a bit of lag dumping some things and I clicked the 'close' button, then it stuck open.
I figured that one shouldn't close the chest before the item icon disappears from the inventory. If I'm allowed I would test this and post here if this is true.
This way we may avoid those hateful opened chests when you have tons of ingots and must buy a copper hammer, cause your good one is stuck inside.

Chatting with people while the chest is open will get them stuck, also leaving them open too long is bad. Like going AFK with a chest open, eh Omega?

If you are experiencing LAG before you need to use the trunk, log off and on to use it. The LAG is most likely memory leakage on your end, but will cause the trunks to malfunction. Tried and proven already.
Also, if you are storing ingots or gem stones only, try not to exceed 6 pages (may be 8), but each ingot counts as a spot in the # of squares available and over filling a chest will cause it to break.
Putting stacks of scrolls and stacks of holy water in a chest is a bad idea, you will get back less than you started with. (The holy water was news to me up until a couple weeks ago, went from a couple hundred holy waters to 1 holy water by watching them disappear as I open and closed the trunk about 4 times, I was watching the phenomenom at work and then remembered how long it takes to by a couple hundred holy waters.)

You can always use multiple chests to store your stuff if you are planning on filling it up a lot.

I encountered the same: chest standing open when I entered the West Styne blacksmith.
After reading the above, I know how to avoid them...but: -When will I be able to acces my stuff again? I can, can't I? Otherwise I might start to cry.

Silentus, can we have a compilation of this? please... no one ever seems to get this. Bump to Important FAQ. And... in the west styne blacksmith there are 4 chests 2 lots of chest_01 and chest_02 nearest are 1 furthest are 2, they are duplicate chests, if one of the pair is broken, you can access the other one, and it has the SAME items in it. Hope that helps. And yes all the information above... do NOT try to place bags in chests, or masses of ingots, gems or tailoring dye. Makz.
