Tidbits below for the lazy web surfer.
"New unreleased creatures not available anywhere else and over 450 community creatures, such as goblins, owlbears, and gelugons. Many of these creatures also feature wing and tail nodes. Two new dynamic creatures suitable for PCs: the Wemic and the Brownie. 14 completely new weapon types, including the falchion, maul, nunchaku, and trident, and new components for thousands of unique weapons. 324 new shields. There's also new components for thousands of unique armor and clothing types. 772 new inventory icons including rings, robes and books, and 90 new items from holy symbols to musical instruments. 1,448 new placeables from plates and bowls to siege engines, ships, and towers. 121 new NPC portraits for dwarves, elves, gnomes, halflings, humans, half-elves, half-orcs, wemics, and driders. "
Sounds interesting, but with a custom made world I think implementation would be... different, than say a new mod. It'll be interesting to see how this integrates with existing mods. Of course new stuff is always fun!

Perhaps we could cull things out of it... And when I say we, I mean you.

Ah, Phoenix beat me to it...
I'm not advocating hak paks here as personally I'll have a difficult time installing them (no toolset woes strike again). What I had in mind was inspiration for things that can be adapted to Fredian. Not having a real good background in the guts of NWN, is that possible (to adapt/adopt ideas to Fredian)?
Hanah ... not crazy enough to ask Fredian to install hak paks when she can't install them:-)

The reason this stuff looks the way it does, is hak paks, there is no other way to do it it uses custom skinned items. Ideas are great, we look at things all the time, and when we have time, we add new things. Adding this type of thing though takes us into hak paks. I was drooling over hak paks of snow WAY back before SoU when I ran Lanthar's mod for him. If I see a LOT of positive feedback down the track, along with Mac versions of SoU and HotU soon coming I just read.. we *MAY* consider it down the track on a test bed for a while to see how it goes seperate from the main server. This is NOT a promise it is a HUGE MAYBE... I love new looks and placeables, it makes the world more realistic and useable... but time will tell. Makz.

I would be willing to install some Haks if needed, but I'm more interested in a stable, fast server. -IF- it can be added safely great, more stuff for us. But like Makz said, let others 'beta' this first. Now that you said maybe, let all make sure to hold Makz to the grill on this one. Hanah, Haks are easy to install, I'm sure they are even easier on the Mac.

Erm...I'm not really a great fan of HAK packs....I have installed them before to play on a previous server, only to find that the server was not very stable.
Sure everything looked yummy, but i got annoyed after crashing out of it 3 times per hour...

If the stuff gets lots of attention in the Bioware community it will probably come out in a future expansion pack, but of course the expansion pack won't work right for multiplayer for 3 or 4 months, but it will look cool in the single player for those who actually play the single player games. I never got far into WW I, SoU or HotU; actually, I didn't even get out of the room in SotU, only use it to pre-test multi-class combinations occasionally.

dang Mac users always holding up innovation.... (jk hanah ) Well that CEP pak or whatever sounds sweet, but the network admin in me leans much more toward a stable server.... even if this was completly bioware supported (which I can't really tell if it is or not...) would you trust it 100%? not me, let everyone else beta test this "release" code.... lol I'd of course like to see new content in makz's world, but uptime is a more precise measurement of quality of code than anything I believe.... "if it aint broke, don't fix it..." but if it works makz... uh... this would be sweet.... <hint hint>

...preparing for the tirade of the pessimists:-p OK, since the tirade hasn't come... WTF? Wemics? Brownies? How about Drow or any other subrace? I mean drow are actually used as monsters, but not a race...

Phoenix, r1de....
The reason I cannot easily install hak paks on my mac is because there is *no* toolset available for mac NWN. My understanding based on my flirtation with NWN on a PC is that you use the toolset to link hak pak data to the relevant module, right? It's a little hard if you're missing the toolset then;-) That being said, I did bash SoU and HotU onto my machine (currently no mac releases so yay for me) and there is the OpenKnights initiative which is currently assembling an open source toolset client for mac. There probably is a way I can do it manually, but why should I have to go under the hood if you guys don't;-)
I realise I'm like the *only* mac user here and this post does nothing but explain that I'm not a stupid computer user, rather that MacSoft is kicking me harder than Atari is kicking you Windows folks;-)
Hanah ... a tangential pessimistic post but pessimistic nonetheless:-p

This is entirely acedemic here Hanah as we wont be having any HAK packs, but installing them on a PC only involves putting the files in the appropriate directories (usually the HAK dir). Its possible more is needed at the server side on occasion, but that is all I've ever seen on the client side. I would assume that it would be doable on the mac, but I dont know if there would be other issues there. hope that helps for you if you are on some other worlds (but going by how much you are on Fredian, Im guessing you would need to have a 2nd pc to be on a different wolrd too

I was just poking fun at you Hanah, being a mac user, isn't everything easier? But yeah like Silentus said the Haks paks on other servers I have been on are just files zipped up. You had to extract them yourself to the correct directory, unless the person who zipped them was nice enough to include correct path in the zip file. Silentus, be optomistic, Makz could drop these in and the server is perfectly stable... ...ok, that was funny. ;D

*pats Hanah on the shoulder*
There there dear, you aren't the only Mac user...however the only thing my Mac has to do with Fredian is that I am rendering a topographical survey of the world on my Mac.
*grins*
Nothing beats a Mac for image manipulation!
