This is going to be great, I always like to see new players coming to the island. To be able to show others what this server is all about and add more life to an already player rich world. ;D

Yeah, just try to be a little nicer on the extreamly low levels (everyone, not just the knights), get them to read the journal entries about the rules/laws. Even if it's totally out of character for me I'll usually welcome a noob, show them a few area and what not. Of course I have to explain that's all ooc, and not to expect that from me later.

Playing with noob characters is radical. Take a large group of mixed characters into an unpredictable situation and watch all hell break lose when hoardes of monsters appear and start killing.
I have lots of great memories from another server doing the main quest with large mixed parties.
If you are an evil character, try to convert the noob to a life of evil, if you are good, try to make sure he/she gets off to a great start. Three months down the road that noob may be backing you up whether for good or evil.
