its about time that some of the fredians should have their say about knights, i thought id post this now after an extremely funny event ;D
Celdor Taylor ((ME)) and Drobo had a little argument, like all arguments it turned into a brawl, Drobo struck first and about halfway through the battle a knight realises were fighting, My saviour i thought, i then Died with a few arrows in my back from the brilliant shooting from Saviour Karl id say he's trigger happy lol.
there are so many bad things about knights, i thought we should point em out, come on people don't be afraid
and while your at it say your opinions aswell

Well as much as I hate to complain....well maybe I don't hate it that much. I was attacked unprovoked in a certain bar in a certain city (west styne) because a certain gnome (Getty) decided to hellball the bar. He runs off and Karl and Mak chase him a few feet and who do they run into but me. Yes I was invisible and just appeared in front of them, but here's the great part. They hit me 5 times for 80 dmg. without even a question. It was kind of like hey here's a known evil person let's hit him he's right here not running away. Even though they plainly saw Getty torch the place. Ouch I know I'm evil but atleast give me a chance to say I didn't do anything or lie about what I did see. Just a gripe IC.....OOC it was rather comical. Just my .02 worth.

Well...the reason for THAT was you decided to say that
: "We may have to take Karl out too"
Hmm...I dont know why you said it right in front of me, perhaps you thought that you were far enough away for me not to see or hear, but i did, and therefore made Karl very nervous in expecting an oncoming attack. (Getty and his friends have been doing that thing a LOT recently)

Okay, here we go again with the play it smart thing...
Evil has been just a tad sloppy with who they talk around...and anyone involved in the recent plot that Mysaides ran should probably consider themselves wanted or at least carefully watched. Most of what happened may have been out of jusridiction for the Knights, but do you think they really care when you have attacked them and one of their own?
Sometimes the Knights are just players doing their best to sort out a brawl, and sometimes they are as characters running the edge of abusing their power to get what they want. This is the way it is supposed to be.
Everyone is well within their rights to play the stereotypical odds...if you hear evil wizard A talking to wanted murderer B about needing to get rid of you, and then a Hell Balll lands in your lap, who are you going to blame?
We all back up from halflings...why? Because most of the known thieves in the game are halflings! Is it bad RP just because you don't know the short person? Not at all, thanks to the predominence of thief as the halfling class of choice, we now have a Fredian stereotype and prejudice (yay the culture is taking onits own shape and life *does happy dance*).
*shrugs* I have ranted enough on this topic for the day...

Honestly I would rather not discuss the subject unless there is a specific issue. Heck I raise them all the time, but I try to leave names out, the people who were involved usually know who they are. But I don't like to say "Mack did this," "Mala did that," unless it's necessary to show your point.
The thing is you may be exposing things the players meant to be private. The bar incident, well maybe Mack is really LE ((not that I think that, just an ex.)) and just wanted to kill you first, then get Getty. Well maybe he wants to hide that fact, and knew there were only 2 people in the bar, no one else. By posting that RP here you may expose things about a character that were only meant to be seen by you.
But then again, there is a public crime forum. Meh, just seems like a rant w/o a point...

I've yet to see a blatant example of meta here.... we all seem to be cognizant enough of the difference between IC and OOC knowledge, happily:-) Hanah ... 100% meta free.... consequently 90% clue free

Nah, not overcautious - its a good reminder. Once in a while I reign people in when they accidentally post locations of crafble or quest items - do I think they are trying to metagame? Most of the time not - its just easy to forget something that youve taken for granted for so long.
Same thing here - most people on the forums are pretty decent RPs nd try to keep IC and OOC separate, but its easier if specifics are never brought up unless its really needed.

As hard as I try, I fail, I try to make my characters have a better memory and understanding of what is happening around them; but like I am in real life, I am just always a little bit out of touch.
((This post should make this thread sufficiently off track, unless you count that as a rant against my mind.))

Ok, back on topic - Knight Bash or Hug away.
Personally I go for the Hug (well, maybe not that personal, but...), I think the knights are doing a pretty good job as a whole. I believe they are trying to stay as in character as possible and do not dole out punishment for no reason. It is important to cut them some slack OOC - when things get hot and heavy, there is alot to keep up with - your character may despise tht the knights tossed everyone in the klink or bashed some heads and figured out the specifics later, but many other things can end up ineffectual without more knights.

A player called me up asking about a linux box in particular, but they also mentioned in passing that "West Styne is a warzone if you're on right now. That place is way too violent." I didn't login Ahh, the joy of knights. The thing is, they were concocted to help deal an explosive amount of violence we DMs foresaw. This might result in a "chicken and egg" debate, but I think they help (the egg), although their existence could cause a whole slew of people to "heh lets get violent to provoke the knights" (the chicken). So which came first, the violence or the knights I think when the Royal Court system is finished perhaps the nobles can use some of their treasury (assuming it doesn't get robbed) from taxes can go into hiring excellent enchanters to improve the power of the lasso. Millions of coins per DC, of course. hmm, did I tell you all about the RCS? Oh well, doesn't matter We already decided on how that one will be (well not entirely, but most of the framework has been talked up). Maybe I'll announce it another day when I can finish up my bugs and heavens knows what features still needed with the jails before starting oin RCS.

Preedy, in all honesty I made a remark right after that in OOC marks that said "that should have been a tell." Did you overlook that somehow? It is possible you didn't hear that. Sorry if you didn't Phoenix if someone doesn't want me to expose something like that I hope they tell me because I can't read minds..with all due respect. I though we were encouraged to give our opinion on this thread. The point is the knights are great. They serve an important purpose. Who else would we pit our eveil against?......Derto? ;D
