CEP isn't working out for me. It has to do with OpenGL and the way it is treated acrossed platforms. I think unix has always been very independent in its attitude of "this is the way it should be designed because we think its the best way, and to hell with the rest of you." The axe swings both ways, for good and bad.
I'm off Fredian until my new machine is built. I have been trying to use a server grade system as an over-sized nintendo too long, and it is time it goes back to being a server and go play games under a game box. I originally got my unix system to do what unix does best, and it needs to go back to doing that. My new machine was ordered before Makz switched to CEP and the plan for its purchase was unrelated with my activity on Fredian (wife took over the other comp since she has enrolled in some classes now).
Regardless, with the availability of a new and better windows box, I plan on making it my Neverwinter Station. I might also search for extra terrestial life or find the largest prime number in its spare time, or other purposes.
It should be arriving today. I have done a LOT of homework on my video cards and its a really really tough decision but I'm going to go with the Radeon 9800 Pro 256 over Nvidia. Radeon has a history of problems with NWN but this particular card has done OK with it (better than my current one, anyway, hah! I heard it has shiny water which at least I don't have on either machine old winbox or server) and has surpreme benchmarks on a lot of other games as well. There is also a pricing factor in the choice
Sorry Mitza and to some of the others I promised I would help, but it is going to have wait awhile. I expect to be fairly slow in assembling it because I have a lot of issues with the new house going on this weekend and after work as well....
