If your going to go with a clean load try installing NWN before any other audio or zip/compression software. I doubt it's windows though, I'm betting on 3rd party software, heck it's a clean load right?
Probably not a data integrity issue as the error indicates, otherwise you wouldn't have hit the same error installing from the HDD.

Yeah, Im with Phoenix there. Ive seen some real odd stuff with Soundforge (produced here in Madison WI btw) and some of the other highend audio software. Great stuff, but things act funny with them sometimes.
Give a try tothe local copy first though - Ive had it work with other apps...

Two suggestions:
1st: Ctrl-Alt-Del everything but Explorer and Systry and then try installing.
2nd: Open the registry and see if you find any NWN stuff in it and make sure their are no NWN files anywhere on your HD before trying to install. I don't remember the program, but I had to manually delete some ini files and a registry entry. You sound like you probably have more experience then me overall so you probably know to be extremely careful if you do open regedit.
Good luck.

that's probably exactly what it is Anomaly. IKernel.exe (or something like that, isn't it?) is fracked. *sighs* the joys of windows.... I can remember having something like this happen... no wait, it was that I needed an ikernel.exe for installing something in WINE... I know I saw somewhere an "archive" or some such of Ikernel.exe files (there were alot of versions if I remember right, it was a while ago)... not that it helps, a reinstall is probably the best way to go... but man that is weird... d**n what a pain.... I'm sorry Anomaly
