What is the procedure for requesting armor with a certain look? Do you submit what it's supposed to look like, and trade it for armor you already have to determine the stats? How does that system work, if it even exists? I want my barb to look a certain way...

well im not sure i understand so ill give it my best shot
1) get the armor you like stat wise 2) theres something called a universal dye kit which allows you to die the armor 6 different colours which are cloth metal and leather just like in toolset when you create an armor, you get about 60 different choices of colours 3) the custom look, there is a skill called Modify armor which if you put ranks in you can modify yourself, you can risk if the armor isnt that good yourself, because the price and DC will be low. otherwise look for a player to modify it for you...
i hope that helps

Is that skill the ATS Armorcrafting skill, or the HotU Armorcrafting skill? If it is the ATS skill, what level do you need it at to begin modifying armor?

HotU crafting skill is required to modify armor. It is covered in your manual that came with HotU.
Cheers,
Makz.

Whoa, too general for it to work with my chars...
Using that skill, is it possible to make the armor look however you want, basically with the same restraints as the toolset? I mean, can I go "arms 44, thighs 42, feet 9..." or is it limited? Can I do CEP stuff?

Do you need materials (metal, wood, cloth, etc) to modify armor? Do you need a certain level of armorcrafting?

:/ ummm... no use of ANYTHING is required for modifying using HotU related skill of armorcrafting, it is a skill... you are not creating it, you are modifying it. Use the skill, even without enough, it just fails, you'll see each choice. This is NOT related in ANY way to making a NEW item. Hope that clears it up once and for all Makz.

What you need to use the Armorcrafting skill added in HotU: 1. A few points in Armorcrafting (the more you have the better you success rate - higher level items are harder to modify than low end ones) 2. Money - For very basic changes or for very low-level armor it is free, but for me to modify my AotC the way I wanted it cost about 3 mil. You can change the appearance of Helms, Sheilds and every part of your Armor/Robe (Neck, each shoulder, each upper arm, each forearm, each hand, torso, belt, pelvis, each thigh, each lower leg, each foot). It will also allow you to change armor into robes. Note this does not change the functioality of the item in the slightest - only the appearance. Also do not put that item into a personal chest unless you want it to revert to its original form (cause it will). You may then also color them using dyes (2 metal colors, 2 leather colors & 2 cloth colors - appies to all part on armor/helm/shiled that uses that material type) To modify your weapon apearance the same rules apply but I believe it uses the weaponcrafting skill and you cannot custom color using the dye kit. There are no where near the options for weapons that there are for armor though. I think that should about wrap up this topic I hope
