Once upon a time, way back in October of 2003, a very, very little Hanah logged onto Fredian for the first time.
She had many strange and curious adventures that first day, but the thing that most impressed this little elf was a quest that the mighty heroes of Fredian encouraged her to tag along on. She demurely tried to dissuade the valiant heroes, because she was only first lev^H^H^H season, but they insisted on her company. During the course of that adventure, she found herself awed by the many sights and creatures, but the most awe-inspiring thing she saw on that quest was the monk Druga fearlessly squaring off against two Warped Monks.
"WTF are Warped," this little Hanah wondered to herself (you see, she hadn't yet become the rather meek and timid lady she is now known as). Little did she know that they were Fredian's most feared beasts. The battle raged on and on... Hanah began leading the other mighty heroes in an inspiring cheer which was surely the key to Druga's victory.
My, how things change.
So, what's *your* most significant, first experience on Fredian? What got you to stick around? I'm sure there are some pretty funny stories of young Fredians exploring the islands (or *cough* island for those of you who have been around that long).
Hanah ... wishes she could remember how her cheer went

The young monk had no idea what she was doing here, but friendly spirits had insisted that everything would be fine on this island. Then the badgers knocked her down and gnawed her face off. Alright, that is what temples are for...repairing facial damage done by badgers... Several trips to the temple later for facial reconstruction a kindly young mage named Xiloscient came upon the young monk sitting on a tall boulder where the badgers couldn't get to her. Sure he looked a little shady, but really, with a gentle and often shared laugh like that? How bad could he be?
*grins*
I do hope he is enjoying the lovely Georgia summer!

Trent, a young monk in training, wandering around with a strange sense of deja vu, always thinking, "Wow, this seems so familiar, I knew this guy in Talus!"
I also remember going to ask the sagely local king some advice and getting eviscerated with a glowing red sword.

Fresh off the slave shipwreck (in late Sept/early Oct 2003) Vugor found himself in West Styne. After running across a few frightful denizens plagueing Inner Styne castle, he ran across a few natives to this place. They invited him to join their guild, but upon his refusal he flet the conversation betwen himself, Mysaides and Maylstryx turn to a more threatening tone. Not wishing to be bullied any more in his life, he met a befreinded a crafter by the name of Farstrider...

Nanna had arrived on the shores of Fredian running from her murderous father. A guild was formed. A crew was in the making. The ghost of Wayne held his breath. She was about to make her move .... [record scratch, music stops] WTF?! the guilds arn't persistent? I have to re-recruit all my members everytime the darn server reboots?? Then, the wizened words of the ancestral coders came: "Submit patches, not complaints." Popped into the neverwinter vault. Downloaded PGS. Saw what was wrong. Fixed it, and submitted for review. Ah hah! works [music starts again] As Nanna finished tutoring Druga, who once tutored her, an alliance of the guilds were cemented. The seasons have been maxed. The time to strike for power and influence was at hand, to become the central power structure on the Island.... [record scratch, music stops] A gray haired man wearing gray robes suddenly appeared. "Hi, would you be interested in helping out"... It was a glorious two and a half weeks of play, though.

Suddenly finding myself in a strange foreign village, (November '03) I knew the first thing to do was to acquire information, resources, and allies as quickly as possible. A mage named Sniven was in the middle of this town, surounded by his guildsmen, speaking to a small crowd of newcomers, offering them a chance at some adventure and exploration. I decided to tag along with this impromptu expedition and was lead by torchlight through a dense swamp into some sort of underground crypt. A young adventurer in our group spied a chest in a dusty corner and proceeded to open it, presumably to fill his pockets with some ancient loot, only to trigger massive spawns of undead creatures all around us! The least experienced of us stood back to watch Sniven and his men engage these beasts in fierce battle, with all manner of arcane magic, elemental and otherwise, exploding throughout the dark crypt! Those who were wise enough to observe their tactics carefully gained valuable experience on the best way to defeat the undead minions. Later after returning to the village with a bit more experience and some coin from the sell of some of the loot, we were offered membership into the guild, "Mayhem" I think it was called. Most eagerly accepted, but I did not, preferring to keep my options open. I did thank Sniven for his courtesy, and hoped I would be able to repay it somehow one day. I myself was a powerful mage before coming here, but somehow the trip stripped me of my arcane powers. I knew that I would have to practice for long hours on all manner of beasts before my skills returned to me in full, but without an ample supply of coin I knew it would be difficult to continue to purchase all the essential supplies needed in wizard/combat training. It was just my luck that I bumped into an elven woman named Hanah who I had met shortly after arriving, who was more than willing to loan me a few coins to tide me over. 831 gold pieces and a smile later, I was off to buy supplies that would help me with the ardous task of regaining my skills in arcane magic, and what a task it was, fraught with danger, adventure, and excitement......

Serion Senfend stood silently in the caves as the two Warped Fighters quickly dispatched the old mage. As he was preparing to initiate the Fighters in combat, the old one yelled out "Serion! Run!" Serion replied "Stay down old man, I can handle myself just fine" The two Warped ones heard him and prepared to run him through with their enchanted swords, but Serion was ready for them. They began a choreographed dance of death that filled the cave with the sounds of clanging metal. After a few minutes, Serion had felled one of the Warped ones, and was preparing to finish off the other. He raised his hands and uttered the ancient words that would summon a ball of pure energy straight from the pits of hell. He shot forward his hands at the fighter and the ball flew straight at its chest. BOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!! The sounds could be heard throughout the entire cave, and was sure to frighten those that were not near him. There was one more Warped to be taken care of, and this one stood off in the distance with her enchanted vile bow. Once again the old one yelled "Serion! Just run! You can't possibly hope to kill a Warped Archer!!" Serion was losing patience with the fallen old man. "Quiet old man! I know what I'm doing and I definitely know the limits of my power better than you do!" Serion casted his magical buffs on himself and ran to meet the Warped Archer in ranged combat. The archer fired a few rounds at Serion's midsection, but the Greater Stoneskin buff shrugged off the damage. After a few minutes of arrows and Isaac's Greater Missile Storm, both Serion and the Warped one were injured badly. As the Archer prepared the final arrow that would down Serion, Serion mustered all his strength and uttered the words that would call forth the ancient spell Greater Ruin and cut down the archer. A flash of brilliant light could be seen engulfing the Warped one, and a few seconds later, a smoldering heap was where the Archer stood but a few moments ago. Once again Serion was the victor.... Hope you guys liked it This was Dec 2003
