I am sorry to ask this. I read the FAQ, but wanted to know if my logic is wrong given that information. I understand that you can bind the book to a stone in game (i.e. the one in Styne Harbour), and I also understand that you can have up to 3 bind locations. I also understand from the FAQ that this is not "persistant", and this is where I get confused.
If I assume (as is the case right now for me) that I am currently bound to that stone and then that the server resets, then I am I correct that I will lose that bind location? If so, then am I correct that I will always have to start in West Styne and run to my locations from there? (at least each time the server resets)
Or will I have a new starting location based on some other (unknown to me at present) location or method?
Sorry if this is a confusing way of askingwhat may be a simple question.
Regards,
Adaram

Simple answer, in theory you should NEVER have an entry that works on reload , HOWEVER!!! thanks to the wonderful way in which biowares save of the PC itself works, sometimes the information is stored and retrieves it on re-entry. The warning is there so that you will NOT rely on that being the case. Personal position as a PC is always stored, that is persistent, and, that is totally NOT connected to the ke'haar stones. Hope that answers it. Makz.

Yes it does, thanks. Also, last night I found something else that is helpful in this matter. I won't say what or where so as not to spoil the fun for anyone else... Thanks. Adaram

I just gotta say, I rather like this element. It can be quite annoying when you're in the middle of nowhere and your best Kehaar entries crap out. However, the whole "fancy magic device that is too tempermental to be relied upon fully" thing just seems very fitting in this type of fantasy setting. The way people use any sort of magic item they want with impunity is disturbing... it would be better if anyone could use wands, but if someone tried to use an unidentified wand or if someone tried to use a wand and they were the wrong class, it would backfire...

And when Makz. says sometimes, he means often. In fact, it's more likely to stay than leave, making it more persistant than not. However, by design they are all supposed to go. Honestly I like it the way it's working now, for the reasons Naraldur mentions. ;D

My favorite part of how the Ke'Haar books get tempermental is when it's doesn't quite clear, but gives you a new entry for a place you typically wouldn't have access to. A close friend was just beginning armorcrafting and was surprised one day to get a convenient page that sent her directly to level 600 of the mines. I've also heard of folks getting into private residences this way. The tempermental magic is a rather fun part of Fredian.

REMINDER: Entering private residence Via KeHaar (without permission) is very frowned upon - Private KeHaars have generally been moved to areas behind Player Keyed doors to avoid abuse of this...
Entering MAKZ's private residences (via incorrect KeHaar entries) is strictly prohibited. If you do so you will be stuck - the Ke'Haar book wont work there. Makz will find you (because your character cannot get out), or your character will rot eternally. Unless I misunderstood, he has stated KeHaaring into his private areas (like Makzimia Mines for example) will result in character death.

this begs the question... Is there anyplace not readily obvious as a "prohibited" place? I like to follow the random entries my kehaar book gives me, and I don't want to end up d34d do all of Makz's places have his name on them?

Makz will have to answer about his places but I wold recommend not going in the follwoing places:
1. Anything that says Makzimia anywhere in it 2. Anywhere that says 'Home of<name>' '<name>'s House', etc...
Basicallly, err on the side of caution. Also, even the messed up ones tend to hang around a while, if youre not sure, jump out of your KeHaar book and send a tell or 2. It is extreamly likely that the netry will still be there to try after youre done asking about it.

I'd like to caution against assuming someone means to use a bad entry. I set my Ke'haar points to certian numbers. IE 1 goes to the desert, 2 is somewhere near WS, and 3 changes depending on what I'm doing.
Anyways, sometimes I don't notice the entry is screwed up before I hit it.
I know this is essentially my fault, I clicked it, but the semi-persistant nature of the books makes me assume...

Yeah, Im sure many of us do the same (I know I do) - still, I doubt that will be a valid excuse if you show up in Makz house, otherwise everyone could use it as an excuse - legitimate or not.
