I've seen some concern b some players as to having alot of DM interaction.. I thought Id just put out a little text about it in an effort to put some peoples minds at ease.
DMs spend a good portion of thier time doing one or all of the following (listed in no specific order):
1. Running events (scheduled or freeform) - These can be very time intensive, particularly prep work for new scheduled events.
2. Adding flare to player events - There are times when players request a bit of action to add to a plotline theve been developing
3. Settling disputes - Beleive it or not, not everyone here gets along OOC right away. It sucks, but sometimes Mom & Dad need to step in. This also can take a while particularly whith more 'grey' situations.
4. Disciplinary actions - Some players need a talking to about behaviors that dont mesh well here.
5. Monitoring - Alot of DM time is spent hovering around watching activity.
What does this mean to you - simply that the DMs are there and if they are not busy with a task will generally be more than happy to chat with you... that does not mean they are going to seek out everyone for conversation (with the exception that there is some attempt made to have most people greeted personally by someone at least - usually Makz).
Unfortunately they are human and have a tendancy (when time permits) to more often play with those they know better - not always, but it is easier to do. Most people would rather chat with a friend than a stranger. Most people would rather play with someone they know.
All told, the best way to get to know the DMing staff is to go where they are likely to be. Where is that? Well, best thing is if youre a RPer, ask around where the RP is when you get on - If theres good RP, there is frequenlty a DM around waiting to add a NPC or a monster drop or artisitc flare, whatever. Not an RPer, you can still approach them - while I might be out of place saying this, I dont think any DMs would be annoyed if you were to send a DM tell asking politley for a bit of time to chat with them when they have some time. Sometimes it takes a while as they may be in the middle of other stuff, but still.
Anyway, Enjoy the game!
