Dear Sirs
On my last visit to the desert market I met a chap would only gave his name as Master Tanner. He seemed very amiable and I proceeded to buy a few items from him.
I took the items and began to ruin some bat pelts I had. After destroying all the nice pelts I had I went back to talk to Master Tanner. I offered him the ruined bat pelts and he informed me I had stolen them. I was disgusted and told him that I had ruined them perfectly well myself I even explained to him that I had stripped them off a bat who attacked me for no reason (it was an epic fight). He would not listen and just kept passing me a note saying he was not going to buy any stolen goods.
I was infuriated I knew there was no value in the pelts but being told I was a thief. I offered this ‘gentleman’ several other items I had crafted, rings, helmets, swords etc. He informed me I had stolen them all.
I ever went to the chap standing next to him and bought a pickaxe and tried to sell it straight away to the Tanner and this he also informed me I had stolen. I said ‘you just saw me buy it’ he passed the same note to me.
I asked him to step outside but all I received was a stony silence. I demand justice.
Yours
Clorfil (The Good)

It may be late, and I probably should not find that funny, but I do.
The craft merchants are not actually accusing you of stealing anything. They have to be limited on what they will purchase or it can skew their stock.
Habib outside will be happy to take stolen or not stolen goods. He is a crafty old desert snake and will turn a profit any way he can.
If you intend to ever completely max tanning, you will want to save those ruined hides in a chest. Reclaiming them is the top end of tanning.

LOL! The original post was great, and Mitza's reaction was hilarious... WONDERFUL use of the uncertain nature of the meaning of internet forum posts...
