Island of Fredian - Rules
All players are expected to abide by these 12 simple rules. There will be a 4 part punishment given to players who break a major rule (for example: Player versus Player OOC many times)
1st Time: Jail for 10 mins or more real time.
2nd Time: Loss of all gear from offending PC.
3rd Time: Loss of offending PC
4th Time: CD BAN

1. DM ABUSE:[/b] THOU SHALT NOT CUSS THE DM (unless the DM is in RP and it is appropriate)
2. PLAY TYPES:[/b] ALL play styles (RolePlayed and Hack-h-Slash alike) are acceptable on Fredian other than GRIEFING (deliberately hassling other players) and PK (Player Killing: killing characters for Non-Role Play reasons). This will be dealt with as above. No questions. No rebuttals.
3. ROLE PLAYING:[/b] RP is encouraged (not required) and is rewarded over time with various things. RPers frequently influence others around them who are unsure to try RPing, give it a try.
4. POWERLEVELING:[/b] Characters of radically different levels (10+) may not travel together for the sole point of gaining XP. They are however quite welcome to do so for real RP reasons. Do not attempt to put on a facade about this - RP centering around mass fighting of monsters is not acceptable without DM approval
5. METAGAMING:[/b] All metagaming activities are frowned upon. If you have more than one PC and you want to switch equipment amongst them be warned the server cleans what you drop when you leave anyway. This can be acceptable if you have a good reason to do it, your PC A knows PC B well and the transferred equipment is left with another PC.
6. BUG REPORTING:[/b] Abusing something that is a bug and not reporting it will cost you anything you got because of it and twice that in punishment. This includes dying and logging off and somehow managing to come back alive. This is not a bug and not able to be done normally due to database tracking of your status. If you die, hit respawn - you will be taken to safety anyway.
7. NPCS FARMING:[/b] Waiting for NPCs to respawn to kill them repeatedly is frowned upon. If you know of a spot where this happens and you use it I will penalize your PC. Note that many NPCs are not easy marks despite their meager appearance.
8. COURTESY:[/b] If a group of players is in Role Play or involved in a group fight, someone entering their area should give them priority as a courtesy and leave, unless invited to join.
9. CLAIMABLE TERRITORIES:[/b] ALL areas unless flagged by ME as a guild area are off limits to players/guilds to claim as their territory. The only claimables currently are the 3 guild halls. No one will claim areas for ANY reason, without my approval during the course of a RP quest or something similar.
10. PVP - PICKPOCKETING:[/b] Stealing from another player character (alive or dead) is acceptable if the aggressor has verified:
.....I. It is done in RP (sorry hack-n-slashers - if you can’t RP the consequence only steal from NPCs)
.....II. The target is of moderate experience to the thief (examine opponent to determine)
.....III. The target is above level 5.
Note that your character may be held liable for damages if caught by the law.
.....c.[/b] Only 2 pickpocket attempts per game day on any single character - dead or alive. You are only entitled to 1 item per attempt (bags may not be taken unless empty). You are ABSOLUTELY NOT entitled to all their equipment without the other player’s permission.
11. PVP - OOC COMBAT:[/b] OOC (out of character) fighting with another player character is acceptable ONLY if both parties agree to it. To prevent RP confusion with passersby, please keep hold these fights in the Whillem Arena
12. PVP - IC COMBAT:[/b] IC (in character) fighting with another player character is acceptable if the aggressor has verified:
.....I. That there is a RP reason for the conflict (not race related though - 'I hate their race and always attack that race on sight' is not valid for PvP)
.....II. The defender is of moderate or higher experience to the aggressor (examine opponent to determine)
.....III. The defender is above level 5 (we do not wish to scare off newbies)
Obviously if both parties agree to this cooperatively the moderate & 5th level restrictions may be ignored.
.....a.[/b] Anyone slain and rezed/raised in the course of RP must (in the presence of the killer) roll a D20 on the emote wand anything under 10 means they have no recollection of it on being raised, and therefore may not seek retribution.
.....b.[/b] Respawn after being killed in PvP is counts as end of PvP and complete loss of knowledge of how death occurred.
