After reading the forums here on the legal system I have a question.
What (if any) recourse does a person have if a knight breaks the rules?
I say this for two reasons. (1) general curiosity and (2) because it happened to a character of mine. A knight attacked my character with little provocation (IC: he was between me and a fire and I asked him to move because I was cold, he attacked me and said words to the effect of "I'm a knight I can attack you anytime I want").
Now I have added the "if any" bit to my question becuse I suspect we don't have any recourse. It's usual for feudal societies to have no oversight of the law enforcers. They are nobles, I guess, and the lowest of nobles is still far above the most worthy of commoners.
Can someone please confirm this?
Thanks in advance Craig

His Majesty King Wend has the utmost confidence in his Knights. That having been said, if you think one of 'em has crossed a serious line, let a dm know. There are two relatively crooked Knights out there and that too is by design. Some of them are bribeable, and some are not. They are people, afterall

Well knights can pretty much do anything they want, within the rules of the server of course. I mean a knight couldn't walk into an area, slaughter a PC who is below the limits of attack (effortless) and say 'blah I'm a knight.' But if it was within a RP frame, then you would have to RP out the act, and see what trouble you could get the knight into. However, they are kinda above the law as you mentioned, IC they should be treated more like a noble...
Knights are kinda like semi-DMs, so expect them to play by the server rules. Makz. picks the knights because they are responsible players, and an IC act isn't likely to take that status away. There may be some IC punishment, but they will still likely be knights, for OOC reasons (finding a new knight for ex. isn't easy).

Telling Nathaniel Hald will help, but its a bit risky business. If you tell the good clerk, you'll get a full investigation from him, at least, when he has his internet connection back. But if it comes out that you're wrong and the knight was not in breach, you could get ICly executed for filing fradulent charges against a knight. As Nathaniel hasn't killed anyone before, ICly, we are not sure if it has the same perma-death effect as when King Wend does it, but odds are, that could very well be the case. So only ask when you are 100% sure, willing to bet your character, that you're right. If all you have to offer is your word against theirs, I'm going with theirs. screen shots! lots and lots! minimum of 4 or 5 And a few witnesses to boot! The course of action chosen depends, and is not guaranteed.

*holds hands up* It wasnt me! Honest! LOL! Seriously, just wanted to give everyone a holler... My PC is obviously mad at me again, and it using its not-so passive-aggressive behavior to let me know again, like, not work correctly . So for those who wonder where I have been, thats where, I plan to be back soon, like in the next couple of days. Have fun. Radog Ultimax1
