Hello all, Tonight was my first venture onto Ferdian. I was told about the server by a guy at [H]ard|Ocp a computer hardware enthusiast site. I must say, CEP really puts a show on. Anywase, I have a couple quick questions that I could not find elsewhere on the board. Is it possible to complete the mine quest in Styne (sp?) at 1st level? I tried and tried and tried. Not that I had a clue as to where I was going in the mine just that I was going somewhere looking for a guy. I died many times just to get back up and do it again. lol. I looked into all types of crafting and explored some of the maps a bit using the portal. I made my way to second level (how i don't know), i think it was partial to killing some wandering animals, that I felt bad about. Second question, Is their any actual merchants on the Island or do I have to craft everything? (still trying to figure out the crafting thing). In my small venture I couldn't find one Merchant that sold armor or weapons. Also, to whomever was the generious person that gave me nearly 13,000gold thanks a bunch! I wish I could remember your name Elves put an impact on some people. Anywase, any tips on these few newb questions would be great! Just FYI, I play a mix of hack 'n slash and RP. I love to RP at mid to high levels, but for somereason I find it hard to do at low levels. Anywase, thanks for the help in advance!

The mine level is possible at level 1. The man you seek can be found on the top level of the mine (the one you start in.) There are plenty of merchents around. Some of the more helpful ones to lower levels would be the lady behind the wooden table in the corner at the inn, and Shard the blacksmith. I can think of 3 others you should be able to get to without swinging a weapon or casting a spell. Most people are more then willing to help out a new guy, especially if they ask in an RP manor. If worst comes to worst, pick a random name on the player list and send them a tell ;D Thats what I ended up doing for the first month I was here. Welcome to the island, I hope you enjoy your stay

Howdy and Welcome!
I believe all the quests that you can get out of West Styne are completeable at first level (even though one of them has multiple parts, the first one IS doable if you know your way around...).
There are plenty of merchants around, so you don't have to worry about crafting if you choose not to. I have also found that you don't HAVE to craft on this PW in order to survive. I have one lvl 40, one lvl 23 and one lvl 21 character and I just now started crafting. I will say that some merchants are easy to find/get to, while others... well aren't. Some of the "nice" stuff is bought off of these more interesting merchants.
The best thing to do is to talk to everyone... I know that sounds boring, but most are not put in there just for filler, some give good information, some give quests and you never know who you will talk to.
Good luck!

Check your [H] PM. Hili's quest can be done at first level, even with a wizard/sorc. If you didn't find the equipment shop, that's your problem. Shard's is located in the first area, W.Styne. It's located in the small block of houses near the fire. Crafted goods are not very important at low levels... Just buy the best equipment you can use at the shops. At low level the items level requirement will be holding you back, not the power of the item. There are some exceptions of couse, like jewlery. Even low level jewlery can be nice helpful. At higher levels, I use ~80-90% crafted items.

Hey Fella(Lady) Welcome to Fredian. If you want just ask and I'll give you my "First Day Tour" IC or OOC your choice. But beware not all my Characters are "Nice". Just find one of those *points to bottom of reply* names in game and Off we will go. As for shops, more than I can count ( I have my shoes on ) As for Crafting, only if you are masochistic, which most people seem to be ;D , including me. As for exploring, you aint seen half of it yet!!!! And when you finally do Makz will change it. I love that part. As for quests, I am not telling anything other than I have found 22 so far. about 20 pre-epic and 5 1st level cake walks. ( the fore mentioned Hilli's comes to mind *shakes finger at spoilers*, tch tch tch) And just to be thorough, CEP isn't the show, The application of CEP is the show.

He's one of the begining quest! You'd have to avoid him to miss the quest, and I didn't say how to do it at 1st. Hili was the FIRST person I spoke to in Fredian, I don't think that's much of a spoiler.

Hehe, I know of 24 quests, Makz claims thiers more, but I cant find them (and I am ocassionally very explorer based). Anyeay, you can ask most anyone in game to take you on a first day walk. Most will be happy to give you a brief 15 - 30 min tour. Some will do it in characeter other OOC - depends alot on if the player is an RPer and/or if the characer they are playing would be likely to socialize with a young one... Anyway, seriously, just ask anone who seems not to busy (West Styne fire is a great place to ask) and you'll likely get a hand Vugor / Silentus / Ryamite

Thanks for the help.
*shutters* Now I feel stupid for going deeper into the mine when the guy I was looking for was on the first level.
*smacks head* Sometime elves are to smart for their own good.
I guess i didn't look hard enough for the merchants, I did find the bank and a wizards shop. I was then chased down by some zombies, so i ran as fast as i could to safety.
serpitus, I may just take you up on that tour offer. *jots down your chars names*

Don't feel too bad about Hili. I was about 500 xp into my 1st level (and a half-celestial at that) until I finally found Hili, and that was exploring XP (i.e., killing goblins or this or that from going A to B). I use a depth, rather than a breadth, search pattern so I tend to go into a tunnel and follow it as far as I can before popping back up and trying the next avenue, and the Hili path was one of the last ones I got around to trying, even though it has one of the shortest depth levels. It doesn't matter how you do it, as long as you find it sooner or later, even if later than sooner. Welcome to Fredian. -Read your journal -See Important Information -Talk to the mayor If you've done these, you have already outclassed many of the people on the server. You're off to a good start. There are level dependent quests, so don't forget to re-explore areas after advancing a bit...
