Looks like its archival time for General Chat.  Hmm, a forums admin, what who me? maybe I'll look into it in two more weeks =-> But someone might be able to do it sooner, who knows it just depends. (quietly looks at Makz and Silentus) |

Archives? Nope - When we move to the new forums, ALL this *spreads hands wide across the existing proboard forums* becomes archival. The important info has already been copied there. REMINDER! You are welcom to look and give some feedback on the new forums with any design issues you feel are serious that have been overlooked. Just dont start posting game related stuff there until Makz says we are cutting over. Keep in mind some things maynot be possible. castille.us/fredian/Forums/index.php |

Oops, also keep in mind that your posts there very likely will be dleeted as I deal with things. When we go live, I want a clean start - so basically only the sticked types will be there when we start  |

OH! Sorry, let me clarify that:
Some answers:
1. Why do we need/want new forums? The new forums will be on Makz server, backed up by him, and in our complete control. Proboards has been good, but there have been ocasional problems which we can now avoid (can you say 'too many connections'). We also have more configuration options with phpBB than we did with Proboards - but a bigger learning curve 2. Why not just bring all the old stuff over? Wish I could, but Proboards will not export the data for us. They were nice, but firm - wont do it. That meand manual conversion which is a REALLY BIG PAIN. I did it for all the Important Info posts as well as all the valid stickied. Beyond that, if you want your favorite threads, you will have to bring them over yourself AFTER we go live (not before or I may very well delete them). 3. Will you delete my old posts? All posts here WILL BE RETAINED and will be able to be linked to for archival purposes for as long as Proboards offers it as a free service. (There is no indication they will be stopping any time soon either  Once the new ones go live, this forum will be locked to a VIEW ONLY mode. 4. You said something about deleting posts - what gives? All posts on the NEW FORUMS that are posted BEFORE the official go live date will likely be deleted. I want a nice clean start there. I dont want it cluttered until we're really ready and everyone is actively using them instead of these. 5. What is different in the new forums?At a glance hopefully you will say 'not much'. I'm trying to start with them as close to this as I can manage within reason. For those of you doing more advanced message formatting there are a few difference
