Mitza cancelled her event for tonight and had me post her reason. I am going to sum it up here for everyone.
When DM's go out of their way to pre-plan events because the players are complaining that there aren't enough and then nobody signs up for them, it makes us feel like there is no point. I haven't posted any of my pre-planned events for this reason, and instead, I am working on larger plots with small bits and pieces being thrown out as they build. If you want the pre-announced events, you have to read the forums and sign up for them, and then you ahve to show up and play in them. We all do a fair amount of ad hoc events, but the real fun for most of us is in laying out a scenario and then watching players navigate, shred, and defeat it.

Why do the times always have to not work with my schedule? I don't get home until 6:00 IoF because of work, and I have a part-time job working at a winery on Saturdays. So that pretty much kills my ability to sign up for these events. Maybe I should go in game and promote these?... I know a lot of our player base has no clue even what a "forum" is. Hehehe, too bad there isn't an IG events board... but A2RPG's dev list is already maxed out. Oh well... Truth - Do you and Mitz do shouts in game to advertise your events? I have been on Mitz's events a few times and loved them. ;D *thanks DM's profusely for providing great quest stories* -Lumix *you hear a voice whisper* "If you spam them, they will come".

*ponders if putting a signpost in West Styne that said "Go to Forums located 'here' for events" would weed out those players who never read the pop-up messages when they log in*I work with a lot of "Mr. Magoos" at my institute that I work at. I find 'idiot proofing' things tends to work somewhat (until they pour their coffee all over the floor because they forgot to check to see if the machine was still running). Anywho, I just thought that would be a cheap idea to advertise more (without the use of programing). -Lumix

Good idea there Lumix.
A signpost that has as a descriptor all upcoming events and can be updated during module updates would be quite useful to keep players who dont check the forums up to date

Call me cynical, but in my opinion if people can't be bothered with something as simple as reading a few threads in the froums, then I can't be bothered with wasting my time to make up fun things for them to do. And in answer, yes I usually shout a reminder to check forums for events, etc. at least once per log in as a DM.

I would have to agree with Truth here.... if people want to take part in the community then they need to read the forums as much as play... having a sign post will just clutter things up.
