Ok, I suppose a good place to start is with what is available and a small tip for each.
Blacksmithing/Smelting : This is the basic given to you by the Master Blacksmiths, first one you will encounter is in Shards shop in West Styne. He will give you a basics of mining and a basics of blacksmithing book, he can also sell you a copper pick axe and a copper smithing hammer. Beware copper is not very durable, and if you choose this path make sure you have plenty of gold initially to replace those, or find a player who already makes more advanced ones up to gold that last much longer. Use a pickaxe, from copper to crafted copper, through to crafted gold.
Weaponcrafting : this is a side effect craft of commencing blacksmithing, you can make many fine weapons and tools also. Some are very rare and require that you search for things as diverse as a dragons liver and as simple as rare gems. Books can be found and or purchased at various places, I would try the trade guild hall in Styne Castle. Use a smithing hammer.
Armorcrafting: Helms, shields, bullets, armor of many styles and strengths can be fashioned. Once again, this is a side craft of having started blacksmithing. Once again, rare items can be used in crafting masterful pieces of this craft. Use a smithing hammer. All minerals from copper to the elven Mithral can be used in making your weapons and armor.
Tanning: The craft of curing, hardening and preparing leathers for use in other crafts. Various animals from bats to polar bears will yield various useful hides. Use skinning knife. See the Master Tanner in Styne Castle or other crafting halls. Tanners sewing kit required also.
Tailoring: cloth, leathers dyes, each combines to make various belts, boots, clothes, and leather armor. Use sewing kit & tailors knife... for both tailors table and knife for cutting flowers for dyes. See the master tailor in West Styne or other crafting halls. Dyes come from the flowers and each makes a colored either cloth or leather then used in making clothing or armor. I will put up more details of the color effects as I can.
Gem cutting: this requires a pick axe again to mine the gem deposits everything from Malachite to Diamonds are around the islands. Depending on your skill, you will cut either cut or ideal cut gems for use in the making of fine jewelry, some of it quite rare and extremely magical.
Use a gem cutter available from the Master Jewelcrafter in Styne Castle or other crafting halls.
Jewelcrafting: The making of fine amulets and rings requires a gemsetting tool and will use many forms of metals including the mysterious Myrkandite. Again the gemsetter and amulet molds and ring molds are available from the Master Jewelcrafter.
A reminder note : ALL tools for crafting can be made by a weaponcrafter. I will be attempting to add the ability for a jeweler to make his own molds in the near future also.
Bowyering: Tall and Short lengths of Ash, Oak and Elm trees are cut using the pick axe again. Trees of this sort are all over the island. Once you have commenced this craft by speaking to the Master Fletcher in West Styne or any other crafting hall, you will also need a paring knife and a smoothing knife for various types of bows. The copper smoothing knife is a resource and one is used with the making of EACH smooth bow, they are low cost so not a major expense.
Fletching: Use a fletching knife this will allow you along with arrow heads purchaseable from the Master Fletcher in West Styne or other crafting halls, to make your own arrows for now in three types, normal, hooked and bladed. I will add more types and the ability to make them for a weaponcrafter. Arrow shaft and fletches required of course, purchaseable off the master.
This is a rough outline and will allow you to get started, ALL recipes are in the world in books, other than the tailoring ones, which I will sort out along with flower colors and what effect they have.
