Thank you so much for this list. Ive been pulling my hair out trying to figure out which color adds what stat to what item and Im stingy with my cloths since it takes forever +2 to collect enough pelts, cure, tan and harden them to sit down and actually experiment a bit making stuff.

I think the list needs a revision as it's apparently outdated

Thanks so much for the dye list. But I have some other questions about begininning tailoring.
1. What pelts are really used to create items? 2. Does anyone have a basic outline of the early progression of the skill? Parwith & I are really confused about when to attempt what & what use those items are for the whole. 3. Are Padded, Hide, Leather, & Studded created with tailoring or armorcrafting?
I've now spent about a month in Elith's down time becoming a Journeyman tanner & now I'm starting to question it's usefulness.
Any help is appreciated, Jorthain & Parwith

P.S. we have sought all the tailoring books we can find IC & all we come up with is two, with very vague instructions.

Try chatting with people... there are some skilled tailors on the island who may be willing to share some of their experiences with you.
Hanah .... *points to Vugor*

Thanks Hanah, Let me clarify, I am looking for some out of game help. Not all character's IG are all that chatty. Including mine. I suppose I could just download the script from the vault & analyze it.

*Points back at Hanah (who is also a prominent tailor)*
Yeah, if you catch me in game, Vugor will likely be happy to assist... I will say the follwoing though:
1. What pelts are really used to create items? The books state how many cloths are needed to create items, but do not state what skins are needed to make cloths. Due to the complexity of tailoring Ill tell you this ooc, tailored items are only made with: .....Badger (small) .....Brown & Grizzly Bear (large) The others are needed to progress in tanning (or you will never be able to process the bear hides) as well as in making some of the tanned bags and occasionally in other crafts (especially armorcrafting).
3. Are Padded, Hide, Leather, & Studded created with tailoring or armorcrafting? Tailoring, 2 large cloths required.
2. Does anyone have a basic outline of the early progression of the skill? Parwith & I are really confused about when to attempt what & what use those items are for the whole. A search of the forums didnt answer this for me like I expected (as I've posted that info before) but as a reminder I still highly recommend using the search function for these kinds of requests (button is just under the IoF banner). Be sure to change the date range from 7 days to something like 100 or more though. In answer to your question - here is an overview of tailoring - easily the hardest of the crafts:
a. kill animal b. skin it to get its pelt (need skinning knife) c. cure the pelt in an oven (need oak logs & salts) d. tan cured hide in water basin (need tannic acid & salts) e. harden tanned hide in water basin (need tanning oil & beeswax) f. turn hardened hide into cloth at taioring table (need dye see below and tailoring dagger) .....f1. pick flowers (need taioring knife) .....f2. make dyes from flowers at tailoring table (need flowers and taioring knife) g. make tailored item from cloth at tailoring table (tailoring knife)
Note: Black and White hides are not currently craftable into anything - they are only valid for increasing your tanning skills so you can move up to better pelts.

I was 98% certain most of that was now covered in books of tailoring and tanning, if I have missed that, I will include it in another update. Sorry.
Also, when you use your journal for tradeskill, there is a description of the trade in there from memory... I seem to remember doing something in there in my many hours of work.
