I just made me some nice little Ultimate - Gloves - Silver today which apparently would raise my Attack Bonus by +8... However as soon as I switch them on, nothing happens, my character Sheet stays unchanged. Is that supposed to be like that? I'm not a Monk and nowhere does it say in the description that these gloves are for Monks only, would be pretty much a big waste if you ask me ;-)
So could someone please clarify this for me ? Are all these gloves that give some amount of AB for Monks only ?

Check your AB unarmed...and then with them...also I don't remember if there is a cap on AB enhancements from items...and if I get time later, I will log in and try a pair myself.

There should not be an AB enhancement cap, but yes, As Mitza said, that AB ONLY applies to unarmed attacks which for the most part only Monks do, although anyone is allowed.
Very sad thing the first time you put those on (when you are not a monk) - also very much by design.

Well, the AB enchancement won't do anything for your character except when attacking unarmed (as has been said above). However, lots of folks running around on Fredian wear the ultimate teal and ultimate white gloves soley for their ability increases, as if they were really gauntlets and not gloves. Since you're close to making those (or already can make them), I would suggest seeing if those gloves would help you out more.
Oh, and since you're tailoring, welcome to that select club that knows pain unlike many others. Just remember to keep good notes on the items you can make, so you know what to sell people later. I just hope you're planning on tailoring as a way to increase income--because it's a lot of pain to go through just for the handful of items you'd want for your character. It's often easier to buy the items from an expert tailor, no matter what the price is.

thanks everyone for the replies... Yes indeed, I checked and the AB Bonus only applies to unarmed attack, too bad, I would have loved those on my Arcane Archer...

Tailoring is not worth it for the income either - you're better off with another trade for that (like weaponcrafting particularly). However there is a certain amount of status you achive as a high level tailor, plus you're guarenteed to meet new people that need your reletivly rare items. I think most people do it for the sheer fact that its there (like me).
We should consider starting 'The Brethern of Masochism' guild specifically for tailors.
