Thought i'd take up bowyering. Chopped me some short oakstaves, bought a bundle of hemp cord and a pairing knife and tries to make a rough hemp short bow. No go. Says I dont have the material to make that..?

No it wasn't just you , I have that fixed now, had to make further changes beyond where I was. I am just working on getting anvil back on line again at the moment.

Another question: Are there more recepies than the first basic book? (Everything is green to me and I'm only at 765)

When everything is green, youre done. Most of the crafts do not go all the way up to 1000.

Actually the ones that do go to 1000, go very close to it . But what he means is that you won't necessarily be AT 1000 when they start to show green. Makz.

Ok Makz, now you've confused me What I meant is that some crafts will not allow you to gain the full 1000 skill points. They will all turn green (and thus no longer give skill points for attempts) at a lower skill level - in this case 765 (not verified by me, but by the sound of his post). Makz, were you implying that green will still give skill points at some REALLY slow progression rate? I never tried doing a whole bunch of green items for the heck of it just to see.

Ok, thanks. I thought there might've been some other book hidden somewhere or something like that.

Keep in mind that I am not a programmer here . Example :- Smooth Longbow say requires 240 skill points to make, in addition to that, long oak needs say 30 skill points long elm needs 60 and long ash needs say 100. With that in mind that longbow in ash needs 340 skill points. Ok, if you apply the above to some crafts like weaponcrafting which has the number of ingot types applied in addition to skill points needed in a range usually also remember of say for example our longbow above it would usually be 180-240 for example. At 180 it would be probably red by around 230 it's probably green. With extremes of number of items craftable in a craft. What generally happens in MY experience, for what that is worth , is a lot of players see green for something else and carry on. A good example is in weaponcrafting. However, if you were to look in MOST players listings, you would find red entries still on certain ingot types for example. As long as you have ANY red and are not at the top limit of the trade skill, you have more points to get, because of the way it is calculated, as I explained above. Makz.

Well Makz is right and understands the big picture for sure. But I have a bowyer at 835 and one at 900 points. So I would say the 900 is the limit.
But just to confuse things a bit more. They both reached their skill levels prior to the recent changes to bowyering. ie the woodcutters axe and new trees. I can not comment on the current state of increasing skill in bowyering but as it was, 900 was the max out number.
Now to maybe reitterate makz's thoughts on different weapons and ingots and such. There are 3 types of wood (elm, oak, ash) and 2 cords (hemp, silk) making for 6 bows plus specials. Now I would say check the listings for longbow again. If you went through, lets say, hemp bows then you may have opened up silk bows and have something to progress with. If the silk are all green, check cross bows for anything new. And finally ranger bows and specials. There are a lot there to take into account. And for me 765 is a bit low.

Simple answer for the PRLs base question: If every item in very menu / submenu is green - youre done. Not a bad idea to re-check once in a while because changes occur that somethimes switch things up a bit.

Thanks for all the feedback. FYI: As of now, every menu is green, and I'm on 765.

I can confirm this as well. Got my skill up to 765, and everything on the menu is green. The last challenging item that was crafted was the Ash Ranger Shortbow. There are no special longbows, or heavy crossbows, and the skill seems to have maxed out really early.
Perhaps there is a link missing to go farther?
