Okay, I've tested knock in the Official Campaigns, and it definitley works. Everything within 150 feet of the caster unlocked--doors, chests, whatever. Didn't personally test it in IoF, but I think Makz did.

I don't know what keeps it from working on those closing forceable/pickable doors, but it would appear to be something in the programming of the doors rather than the game itself. The spell appears to work perfectly, just as handy (and addictive) as ever.

I'm not a programmer in any sense, you guys have fun with this. I guess it would have been something good to mention a couple years ago.

KNOCK does not work on ANY plot items!!

Based on all this information, I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that the Commander's ring is a plot item - as knock has never worked from it either.

commanders ring is not a plot item, BUT what I mean is, ALL doors and MOST chests if not all, are plot, this is to stop them being busted by players, we are persistent and most times up for as much as a day between loads.. so. It will not work. Knock the spell does not work when used to unlock doors or chests that are plot.

On the plus side, my arcanists will have second-level spell slots available.

Not that it really bothers me, I got used to the "always, always, always take lockpick" concept some time ago.

Also think about this, 99% of the locks are DC28, maybe 26... Pretty easy to drop one point in it, and carry some + to lock pick items.

Now the jail, that's a bit different...

Commanders ring removed - Knock wont work on plot based locks, which almost all doors here use to avoid breaking in a PW environment.
