OOC I apologize for any misspellings of names of places on the server.
As you are walking in the woods, you hear a woman speaking. You stop and here her speaking with, ? a bear? You recognize the woman as Lexa.
You decide to listen in:
“Yes, Brownie, I know I told you I would come get you if there was trouble, but there just wasn’t time. I was up near the docks when I heard a woman crying. I stopped to ask her what was wrong, but she was sobbing so loudly several others also stopped to check on her.”
“The girl told us,” A growling sound is heard. “Yes us! I told you several others also came to aid the woman. It was Frost and some of his cohorts. Shh, now let me tell the tale. She was crying for her lost love. A man whom she had grown to love suddenly took all the money they had been saving for they’re wedding and up and left town with a new friend. She said they had headed to Castile Castle and that he was acting quite oddly. It seems he had worked for one of the churches collecting money for the poor. Now it seemed that he was only interested in collecting money. She was afraid it was the influence of his new ‘friend’.”
“We all headed for Castile to see what had happened to this man. Upon arriving in the city, we meet a man who was diseased. He was claiming that there were a couple of men in town who were collecting donations for the poor in town. It seemed that this man had been giving donations, but when he stopped paying, he was stricken with a disease. The man suspected that these men who were collecting the donations had somehow caused his affliction. The man told us where we could find the donation collectors, so we headed to the Castile docks.”
“At the docks, we quickly found the man who was collecting ‘for the poor’. I asked him what they were doing to help the poor, and he began to ignore me. It turned out that this man was indeed the new friend of the man we were looking for. After someone in the group agreed to give the man a ‘donation’ he agreed to tell us where to find the girl’s lost love. It turned out that he was heading back to the Styne Docks to speak with his girl. We were all quite concerned about this since this man and been part of the donation scam, so the group decided to split up. Half the group returned to the Styne Docks and the other half were going to stay with this self proclaimed cleric, to be sure he didn’t somehow warn his friend. I went with the group back to Styne. Frost and some others stayed in Castile. The group which was staying seemed to be fairly harsh in their handling of the cleric, but I didn’t think they would murder the man.”
A very loud growling is heard.
“I know. I should have known better and stayed at Castile, but we had little time to think, as we were all worried about the girl’s safety. I found out later that shortly after we left Castile, the cleric, who was probably growing quite tired of the bulling that the group was doing, cast a spell. One of the group shouted that the cleric was trying to put the disease on him and the entire group slaughtered the cleric. I should have known as much since I saw Frost and 3 of his companions chase down a man and kill him saying only that he was evil. Imagine that! Need 3 others to help you kill 1 man. I find such behavior quite unruly. I don’t think I will ever figure out this good vs. evil stuff. It seems that the ‘good’ side seems just as bad as the evil side. Both are just killing each other with very little provocation. They all seem like thugs to me.”
Growling again.
“Oh, yes, back to the story. We ran back to Styne harbor to find the girl. We arrived at about the same time as the girl’s lost and confused lover did. The man was trying to get the girl to marry him. We confronted the man at that point, asking him about the disease, which was afflicting the citizens of Castile. The man said he was just doing the work of his new god.” Growling. (That time you almost understood what the bear said). “No, I can’t remember the name. It was just some old deity. If you’re really that interested we can go visit the Parthenon and find the statue. I am sure I would recognize the name.”
“Anyhow, back to the story. At first the man denied any link between himself and the disease, but he also did not feel any sympathy for those afflicted. About that time, the rest of the group who we had left in Castile arrived. The man seemed to waiver a bit in his convictions. We kept up our confrontation and after reminding him about the work he used to do. It seemed that he was suckered into this whole affair over money. After debating with the man, he began to see the error in his ways. Then a bright light appeared. It was his old god offering him a chance to atone for his evil. The man accepted this atonement and was cleansed. After that he decided he needed to return his ill-gotten money to the people he had collected it from. The girl accepted him back as the man she had loved. Then several members of the group gave the couple enough money to buy a farm and start their lives together once he had returned the ill-gotten funds. And so far, they have lived happily ever after.”
Growling again. “Ok, ok. Next time I will come get you and not leave you here in the woods.” A quite growling sound is heard, then a girls laughter. “Yes Brownie, we can go play now.” The sounds seem to be getting further away now.
You decide to go about your business and not follow Lexa and bear into the woods.
