Now that I have been published and am recognized by the populace to some small degree I have decided to put forth my initial findings based upon interviews, empirical evidence and a liberal amount of speculation.
POPULATION DEMOGRAPHIC:
To date, it appears that there is little that we who have been brought to the Fredian Isle have in common. We come from many places in the mundane world. We come from various walks of life; in professions, upbringings, moral codes, divine beliefs we all vary widely. Despite this, there is one commonality to every person I have interviewed to date - we all did not quite fit in with the culture we were born into. Simply put, we are all commonly uncommon. What draws us to this place is more varied, however there does seem to be a trend toward a violent transition and in most cases (but not all) a sea journey is involved. Simple observance of much of the coastline also indicates that the Captains of the vessels involved were not aware of this islands location which leads credence to the supposition below.
LOCATION RELATED TO THE MUNDANE WORLD:
As many here have found, this is more an island than any of us knew upon our original arrival. Yes, it is a landform surrounded by water, but that is the end of the base similarities. Beyond that water, those many who have attempted to sail back to their homes have found that within mere miles of Fredian the water ends in a sparkling void - a protective barrier thru which nothing but twilight is visible. No one knows what lies outside this barrier as it remains impenetrable to even the most powerful of the arcane and divine arts that the island has to offer. My personal speculation is that the Island of Fredian lives outside the space of the mundane world, perhaps it is more of a world unto itself. Further, it is my belief that we do not follow that mundane world's timeline as expounded on below.
DEITIES & TIME:
Having spoken at length with the devout in our midst, I find that nearly all of them briefly lost touch with their deities upon their arrival here. After a day or so of soul searching, however they all found that their god had not abandoned them, but instead was slightly 'different' here. Yes, the god’s names frequently are different here - this is not a surprise as even in the mundane world different peoples frequently have their own names for a common god. No, this is a bigger change. The gods themselves apparently have almost the same interests, just slightly skewed, enough so to leave their follower wondering at first until they reacclimate with how to communicate with the god in question. This is the primary reason I believe that Fredian resides outside of normal time. We know not whether the gods are bound by time, I personally suspect that some are and some are not. Being restricted by time would however lend itself to the concept that over the years the gods have changed in mild ways that throw off their devout when they arrive here. If this premise is true, there is no way currently of knowing which direction in time we exist in relation to the mundane world. Or even if we are static in time or moving in less predictable ways.
Summary of Silentus' speculations:
1. Fredian population is drawn from the uncommon of the mundane world.
2. The Island of Fredian resides outside normal space.
3. The Fredian Isle resides outside normal time.
