I've come here quietly, hoping to say my farewells without causing any more pain. I tried earlier, my dear, but my presence alone was enough to cause more grief.
It's now early morning and the sky is just beginning to come to life. I've spent a while here, trying to reconcile myself with your leaving me. As hard as it is to believe, I can't weep for you... but if you think long on that I believe you will understand why.
I've abided here so long in the morning chill that I can scarce work my pen now, but I've finally been able to ask a boon of Anah. I've no fine gift to leave behind for you, no beautifully crafted weapon, no lingering beautiful words, but these... these tiny, ephermal creatures, symbols of the soul, they'll stay by your side forever. Forgive me this conceit, won't you? I couldn't let you leave without showing my love one more time. They will follow you where I cannot.
