Valdur Qilo << one of my ace characters used to have the Male Good Wizard voice set, but for some strange reason i don't seem to have that voice set anymore (not listed on character creation, and i do have the right hack packs an stuff to make all the voicesets listed). Anyway to stop him having to mime everything i was wondering if his voice set could be changed to the Human Male Commoner Older the one that goes "I am but a poor old man!" lol Even if it can't thanks for bothering to read me thread lol

Did you put any custom voices in your system? If so that is your problem. Custom voicesets will override all SoU or HotU voicesets and cause all characters with that voiceset go mute. This would only be your problem though if you only recently added the custom voicesets though. If not I have no idea how to fix it. ;D -Aboxorox

This has to do with your 2da files. You would be quite surprised what you can do with them. Perhaps some day I'll post a tutorial on mastering your NWN's 2da files =-)
soundset.2da in particular. This is off memory, I'm at work right now... but I think you need to set the availability flag (the last column, I forget what they call it) to "4" or so. It should open up a soundvoice for both genders (yes, fear it, a female char with old male wizard lol).
You can usually find it by name (the first column) but if you can't, you can look at the 2nd column and use the NWViewer to find out which voice that reference plays from looking at the sounds in one of the BIF files (it sounds hard, but its really a snap if someone does a demo of it for you).
Then you need to move the soundset.2da to your override directory.
There are two ways of getting the original. On the Bioware site they offer all the .2da files for the game. The other way is use an unpacker (NW Viewer works but there are other unpackers on the vault) that will extract them out of the .BIF files in your \data directory.
If you make a modification to any 2da files, put them in your override/ dir. It has a significant difference with client/server usage. Servers use it to disable things like the shadowdancer class from being available on the levelup menu (some pvp servers don't like SD's). Clients use it to override voices and change the choices of the "Recommended" button for faster leveling, or creating their own configuration packages so their favorite build just loads in as they play instead of having to choose things manually. Nice if you are re-rollling for a higher HP count since you can go through the leveling process faster.
There are people, like sorcerers.net, that do this for you. They have an "unlocked" soundset.2da file available. This is basically what I just described but they opened up a lot of voices and put the file on-line. One of the caveats of that is you can't always open the one you want. I recall Vampire Warrior was one I had wanted and they didn't enable, so I that is where I learned to do it myself. I havn't been back to sorcerers.net in quite awhile.... lots of NWN stuff there.

Is it possible to write over specific sound bits from individual voicesets? For example, could I replace the "Battlecry" in Brooding Dark Warrior with a recording of me saying "Blood for the Blood God!" ?
