Ten miles away from the City of Amn, Xyon came walking out of the Skywer Tavern, with his wife, Jessica. Xyon was wearing a uniform of his order with the Hand of Torm showing brightly upon his chest piece. It was well kept and very elegant in design. His helmet had the look of a Golden Circlet tucked underneath his right arm. His sword was dangling from his belt. It was no ordinary sword. It was passed from generation to generation in his family. A bastard sword kept in prestine condition.
Upon the hilt, Cainalson was finely engraved upon its surface and both sides of the hilt. A sword treasured dearly by Xyon as he inherited it from his father, Derick Cainalson. Jessica was wearing a long, blue blouse. Her wavy, brown hair blowing in the direction of the afternoon breeze. Her green eyes sparkles with joy. It was a bright, sunny day with not but a cloud in the sky. Xyon and Jessica were enjoying themselves. Laughing, talking, and kissing. They were happy. They were walking towards a horse they had used to travel from Amn.
As Xyon put his helmet on, he heard a booming near him. He whipped around with sword suddenly in hand, as if he was used to danger sneaking up behind. There, he saw a disturbance floating in midair. The air lashed violently around it. Sending tree branches snapping and twirling around in the air. The green grass hugged the ground as it was being pounded by the air. The disturbance opened a dark hole, electricity sparking forth. A dark, wicked helmet fell out of the dark hole. Red eyes were visible in the black hole from a mile away. It instantly sent a chill down Xyon's spine. Xyon gripped his bastard sword even harder, clenched his teeth, and not letting go his gaze from the red eyes.
"Jessica, get inside now!" Xyon blurted, without looking.
Jessica pleadingly replies, "But...Xyon! I can't..."
"It's for your own safety, Jessica! Get inside. Now!"
Jessica reluctantly starts jogging towards the inn, while keeping her head turned back towards Xyon. She was concerned.
Deeply concerned. She knew what Xyon was facing. It was not the first. Nor was it the first disturbance. It was an abhorrid memory she wished to have permenantly erased from memory. Yet a memory that will remain forever. Engraved upon the brain forevermore.
Xyon quickly moves closer to the disturbance, waiting for the red eyes to leap out at him like a tiger hunting its prey. He knew as well as his wife of what is to be expected from this disturbance. It troubled Xyon greatly, seeing it again for the second time. He loses composure briefly, but quickly regains it. He wishes not to let his nemesis gain an upper hand.
The manical laughter radiates from the glowing eyes. "Fool. You think you destroyed me? I was merely...delayed. Although I nearly did have a good time while I was away. No matter. I have you now."
Xyon did not waiver. "I got rid of you once and I will do it again! May Torm tear you asunder fiend!"
Xyon charged the disturbance as fast as his legs would allow him. He raised his blade high in the air, ready to strike once he is in position. As his blade comes swinging down, the red eyed figure leaped out and grabbed on to the bastard sword. A spectacle of lights flashed from Xyon and the red eyed figure.
Jessica cried, "XYON! NOO!"
Briefly, the light show stopped and Xyon's sword briefly glowed and distorted itself before disappearing. The red eyed figured laughed as the dark whole consumed both the red eyed figure and Xyon. To Jessica, it seemed forever, but the disturbance quickly shrank into nothingness. The air halted to a dead stop. Debree in the air crashing down. The grass returning back to its peaceful swaying in the breeze. Everything was as it should be...Or was it? The red eyed figure was gone. Xyon was gone. The sword gone. Jessica ran towards where she last saw Xyon. She was left all alone, consumed by loneliness, sadness, anger, and surprised. Now she will live on without the possibility of seeing her love again. She looks down at her barely noticeable, swollen belly with tears streaming down her cheeks.
As for Xyon, his path has taken a radical turn. His brother is now within his grasp. A task he longed to complete. Has Xyon's new path turned out for the better? Only time will tell...
