*Written in a journal with an unknown author* Several days ago, the isle witnessed a massive meteor tumbling toward the surface. It occured when the sky was pitch black with sparkling stars with no clouds to be seen. It was both exciting and scary to watch. The sky lit up in a variety of colors, and if anyone on the isle has been living here long enough, they would understand this comes from the magical barrier that surrounds the isle.
In any case, the meteor crashed somewhere in the Greater Forest in a bright flash and boom. Several people went to investigate the disturbance. There, they found the renmants of the meteor's impact. There was a large crater filled with smoke, debree, and fire. The trees that used to take the crater's spot were no longer distinguishable as they were completely destroyed.
There was one odd element to this, however. The group of adventurers found a set of footprints that started from the crater and went to the west into the Pits. Naturally, the adventurers decided to follow this path into the Pits and here they discovered that a small camp was almost completely obliterated from whatever monstrosity marched through.
There was one survivor. This survivor had the wit completely scared out of him. The adventurers had some trouble getting him to speak, but they were successful eventually. Don was his name and spoke of how a giant man in dark battle armor marched through and completely killed all his comrades and layed waste to the campsite. Don told the adventurers the monstrosity headed southward toward Whillem and there is where the adventurers decided to follow suit.
At the gate, they discovered something horrific. A lifeless skeleton was sitting up near against the post on the opposite side of the Ke'Haar stone. His flesh was recently ripped apart from his bones and scattered throughout the immediate vacinity. It was a disgusting and horrific sight to take witness to. The adventurers immediately went into Whillem and saw one witness, an old lady, who saw what happened.
This lady told the adventurers, when asked, that the big dark armored man marched through their town, and somehow took two Whillem guards to follow him. It is strange, and perhaps scary, for someone to persuade men instantly as the big dark armored man did. The dark armored man and the two guards traveled outside of the town into the swamps.
There, the group of adventurers discovered the two guards waiting for them expectantly. They told the adventurers to turn back, that there is nothing here to see. Of course, the adventurers did not believe them one bit and after some conversation, the guards immediately attacked. It was somewhat of a tough battle as several of the adventurers fell. Some of them blame a disruption in time and space ((lag)) for their ultimate, but temporary demise.
In any case, the adventurers got back on their feet again and after regrouping, they set out to search again. They came before a cave and before they went further, they were waylaid by a lone Hawkman Spellmaster. Seems strange that one alone come out and ambush Fredians out in the swamps like that, but he did. Although he was only one, he managed to instantly fell several of the adventurers with his foul death magiks. After this temporary delay, the adventurers proceeded to explore the cave.
Upon moving to the deepest recesses of the cave, they came across what many would define as a Black Slaad. They are vicious creatures, demons to say the least. However, the adventurers soon discovered that this slaad was only a husk and some way of the dark armored one to communicate with the adventurers from afar. The husk was questioned thoroughly and all they got from the slaad is that the dark armored one is out for power, destruction, and to form an empire... Quite the ambitious goal for one man, as some adventurers put it.
Another dark chapter is about to tell its tale again in the world of Fredian. As if they have enough perils to deal with. However, as evil arises, so does good. Surely, a number of adventurers will stand up and defeat the dark armored one when the chance arrives, but even if the good rise up, they cannot be successful all the time. Time shall tell us all what fate is in store for us in the future...
*The journal comes to an end and mysteriously becomes available en masse for anyones perusal.*
