***EDIT of TIME to start**** (stupid me) 9PM PST calling all adventurers to whilem arena tonite at 9PM PST (( sorry if it is bad for you, we can work on the timing for the next one, sorry preedy (maybe we can do it again later too if there is interest) Ialso apologize or the last minuteness of this post... )) for some friendly team battlesand since we feel that most of the players on this server are over lvl 20 now. we have to put a minumum level of 20 for this, sorry.... Organized by Erith and Frost ((prizes to be announced later, probably be nice crafted items since GP doesn't mean so much anymore... ))the rules are as follows: The first Players to arrive at the team battle arena will be chosen as team captains.... any following players who wish to be the team captains can fight for the position with the current team captain in the arena... once we have that settled, we will have a first round. All rounds will be played out as follows: combatants enter inner battle circle with no buffs and no weapons in hand once the match starts anything goes.... First half of Match consists of the 2 teams splitting up to either side of the arena and all players rolling D100 the highest values from each team then fight it out... for as many rounds as there are players on a team (8 on each side, 8 rounds here) *added* losers do not reroll to battle again second second half of Match will be as follows: the team captains will submit to Erith the names of the people on their team broken up into smaller teams of 2 and the order in which those teams will fightthe team that wins the most rounds wins the match.... the rules are not debatable if there is anyone who does not like these rules do not come to play, if you are there and start complaining you will be asked to leave, no questions asked, and we'll try to find a replacement if possible (if it turns into what the last attempt at this was, I will call the whole thing off and leave...) . also, no spells or tactics or potions will be banned or regulated in this match, everything goes... (erith may stay out of the battles and just (try to)regulate if we get enough ppl... I can't really decide yet.... it doesn't really seem fair to organize it and participate, but we'll see....)

I will strongly consider coming and bringing my friends. Perhaps we could sweaten the pot too, since we craft. I can craft most weapons and all jewlery. If I don't come to play and you want me to craft something just for this let me know. I would help you out some just to make the event fun, even if it's a little out of character for Phoenix.
Let me know if you have any requests for prizes, I should be on well before the event.

BTW, that was a great tune up for what holes I need to patch in my defenses! Thanks guys! I agree.... maybe we should take the n00bs to the arena for "training" muahahahahaha It was fun, even Daniel coming all the way out there just to "beg" (I couldn't believe it when he won that one time.....) I'll try to officiate again if anyone would like to do this style of fight again... I think the rules need a bit of refinement but all in all I liked it... what do the ppl who took part think about the rules and all?

I liked the rules. *puts onf flame retardant suit* It's not far off of what you would see in PvP, except people have spell that are always on, but whatever. If you wanted to level out the field a bit, take out timestops?

Been busy as all get out so this reply is late, but I just want to commend r1de for this kind of post. I think there are certain non-rp playstyles and desires on the server that need to be expressed in designated areas among groups of the willing. There is nothing like a good ole fashioned brawl. You'll be doing one next week too, right? Hmmm... (thinks about next project)

I see no reason why this ins't roleplayed more, most the people there were RPers. Heck Daniel, our new resident bum walked out there to beg from us since Styne was empty... Too funny.

Hey! thanks addicted! your right it was really really fun... I can do it again next friday (this week) don't see why not.... is the same time of night alright for everyone? or do we maybe need to make it later/earlier? (I'm all for making it ealier if we need to (I know I like to get away and go out sometimes on weekend nights ) Phoenix, uh.... no timestops? huh... I don't know... one of the points of this was to make it a no holds barred, nothing banned, all out fight.... I think in like that team battle that we had at the end there (erith & frost vs. phoenix & Karl) was one of the best fights... we just have to learn, it is inevitable that we will come up with counter measures to the massivly devastating TS/IGMS combo.... like in that last fight between us (like our first one) you timestopped first, luckily I had picked to not try to beat you to the timestop/IGMS that time and chose to use greater spell mantle instead and then timestop/IGMS... which is what I did, and I almost got both of ya... d**n Karls dev crit then phoenix and I (both dead) got to watch Karl and Frost miss each other for about 10 minutes till one of em started to get lucky a few times.... lol. it was so cool tho... I love learning new tactics like this and I think us spellcasters need to start using counterspell more in those circumstances.... (I know you can't quikslot it anymore.... d**n bioware....) ok sorry this turned into too long of a post... *runs away to hide from the flames* *edit to add* yeah I don't see why we can't RP it more, but I don't want it to be that we *have* to RP when we are doing it...

ok I just had an idea on the RP aspects of this (not that I really want it like this, I'm undecided at this time) and I don't know how involved it would be (and I certainly do not want to add to addicted and makz's workloads) but I know I saw this on another server somewhere so I was thinking it might just be a matter of plugging in the script (I don't know I"ve never done more than play this game, but I'd like to learn how one of these days...) we could we have a team roster and scoreboard sign thing... then we would have some permanent "teams" (I'm invisioning them kind of like the guilds) for impromptu battles in our arena.. if we had to RP this out it could be that at certain times we get together for this kind of training because it is simply the best way to hone our battle skills.... but the RP thing might also turn it into a good vs. evil battle and could ruin it as it was supposed to be just all in good fun... I don't know... just thinktyping out loud again... lol. How about this week we see if more ppl show up, and keep the rules the same for now. I know everyone who was there had a good time and will most likely be back (I hope... that was sooooo fun ), maybe we can get some input from the other players on fredian too.... dang I'm longwinded sometimes aint i... lol

Hey it's your fight, and I'm the one with timestops... But one on one with TS is a bit cruel. I was thinking of counterspelling you in that team fight, had it all ready, but w/o a quick slot it's very hard to get in as the first action (IE before your timestop ). I really liked the mixed matches. EARLIER!!! 9PM East coast=12 West coast... So yeah, anything earlier is better. Friday! Friday! Friday! Rumble royal in Whillem!!!

How do you plan on picking teams? Two features are desirable. 1. Rapid selection (a team shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to for a group of players to make). 2. The teams should be in theory similarly balanced to make them competitive and interesting. Whatever you guys choose is up to you, but those are two points to keep an eye out for if you are willing to adopt them . The old baseball "team captain" system has a logic to it because it encompasses rapid selection, and each "captain" will presumably, assuming their NWN knowledge is decent, pick the best available person back and forth such that they will hopefully be evenly matched.

Why not keep scores as a new thread here on the forums?

Captians were selected, Frost and Karl I think, they rolled off and took turns picking, school yard style.
Spathic, thanks, I love this avatar, took some time to find it. (didn't see your post earlier)
And yeah, lets just keep score here. KISS.
