You are right, the rules apply to everyone, and some people have managed to thwart them.
The DM's have been stretched thin, hence Makzimia brought me on staff.
There are now perhaps 3 hours a day when there is nobody watching, and if I am feeling particularly sleepless, those may not be safe for those that wish to slip by the rules either.
I can understand the frustration with levelling up, gods know that it took me 4 months to get Mala to 40. However, I have seen people start a character and push through to 40 within a few days without ever breaking a rule simply by knowing where to go and how to do it.
Recognize that the DM's are human, and we do our level best to take care of everything at once. Pleae help us out by following the rules.

My thought on powerlevel. Why would you powerlevel here! I can literally make a 40th level pc in 4 days I have done it 2 times already. Getty took my about 4 months to get to level 40 so some times I go slow too. But have I powerleveled any to make these charaters? No it is to easy to do it by yourself. If you need help write me in the game I will give you some suggestions. ;D

Its taking me only a few weeks to get to 34 but I was shown where the places are to go for the best results I reckon at this stage I could get a character to level 30 in one maybe 2 days its like they say "knowledge is power"

Once you explore the world a bit it's easy to find good leveling spots. As Kline mentioned, you can solo to 40 fast, in fact I would bet you can solo FASTER than power leveling. So power leveling is actually dumb on this server.
Anyways, that's also a reason NOT to complain about seeing someone one day at level 6, and a few days later 38. It doesn't mean they power leveled.

I really dont see this a big deal... If youre RPing its fine, if your not, then watch who you fight with. This ruling was added oficially when they finially fixed the HotU XP bug and it was instated as much for the higher level characters as for the lower as both benefited from it in a way that does not seem fair. If Makz could nerf that problem, im sure he would - but agian, its the Bioware default.
The knowlege is power folks are right - if powering up fast is your goal, and you dont know the world well enough to know how to power up fast, perhaps you should make exploration a focus for a while and see what Makz has made for us all. If powering up fast is NOT your goal, then you probably fit within the RP fighting catagory...

I don't see what the big deal is. We are here to have fun, right? If someone else's idea of fun is screaming their character up to 40th level in a few days and then exploring, why should it bother anyone?
"Yesterday their character was 'effortless' and today they are 'impossible' for me"
big deal! Unless you are planning on killing them it has no bearing on your character at all how powerful someone else is. I was yelled at and threatened with getting levels removed from my character for powerlevelling once because I introduced a friend of mine to this world and we went adventuring together so I know what you mean anomalylone.

Sorry to come late to this discussion but I hadn't seen this point made yet:
Regardless as to whether or not powerlevelling (that is, high level characters partying with very low level characters for the purposes of experience gain) is a 'good' or a 'bad' thing, the fact remains that it is considered against the rules on Island of Fredian.
With an issue like this where people have strong opinions on the *concept*, it is easy to forget that the rules are the rules, regardless of your opinion. However, the rules do appear to be working for this server... so since we are all guests here on this server, we should respect them.
Now before you all say "Oh it's only Hanah talking she took five months to get to level 40", let me say I recently invited a RL friend onto the server. I have not party'd with his characters with mine, and have refrained from any buffing or gratuitous raises. Do you know what? He's having a blast. It isn't "too easy" for him. He's met a number of people right off the bat that he wouldn't have if he had remained under my shadow the whole time. So for those of us who invite friends to Fredian, maybe we should let them explore on their own some, and fight for those early levels... it seems far more rewarding.
Hanah ... I'm back!

I can say from first hand experience you will not be demoted without a warning beforehand. Just a few days ago Anoushka was collecting black hearts, lich skulls and some essence in a certain room somewhere with Per Ralph and Thom. I made a deal with Ralph he would get a Holy Avenger if he helped me getting those ingredients. We also needed someone to open a lock, that's where Thom comes in (He got a Trebor's barricade for the trouble). During the collection I made a remark how amazed I was that I still got 200 xp for the monster in question, while being grouped with Per Ralph and Thom. This got the attention of a DM, who suspected foul play, powerlevelling. But instead of demoting right away, she heard us out first. And it became clear our purpose was not powerlevelling.
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, you will not get demoted out of the blue. Not without a fair warning.

Just a little reminder to Anoushka… Do not let she forget about the “si ne qua non”* condition: trying to sell the items only for people that will use it for goodness.
*Si ne qua non from latin, it means “without it no way”

I dont see what the big rush is to hit 40. Ive only been playing on the server for about a week or so and am 17. But I have more fun exploring and finding quests to do. It seems like there is something new around every corner. Ran into Hawkmen today, and that wasnt pretty but it gets my curiousity going about whats over that way. This is an outstanding RP server for the simple fact there is something to do for all levels. I have a blast working on armor and weapon making as well, just for the simple fact I feel proud that I walk around wearing my own handy work. I guess that was kind of a ramble but the point is that there always seems to be a DM around to answer questions and run an event it seems like almost everyday. The amount of time and effort put into this world really shows, so why not sit back take your time levelling enjoy the great RP'ing and quit being in such a rush. Grumli Danvil

Thanks Hanah, you hit the nail on the head. It doesn't matter what my opinion of the rule is, not really. It is my job to enforce all of them equally. Addtionally, there is a great tool available for anyone that would like to talk to me about anything that I may have done that bothers them. I am on Teamspeak most days from the time I log into the server until I take my nap. Anomaly and I talked for a long time last night, and there aren't any hard feelings that I can detect (and he is a musician...see radio free fredian thread).

I need some clarification...
Is going to a spawn point and doing a loop considered powerleveling? Like drider room stalking or killing warped over and over...
